What are people paying for standard privacy fences right now? Contemplating on getting one put up or possibly doing one myself. TIA

Very curious of this as well.

last june i did my own for around $2200 and that was only for 150' of fencing. got a quote before hand from a family member and it was going to be $4500 (with removal of hurricane fence) and probably would have only took 2 days as opposed to taking 3.5 weeks doing it my self on weekends

You can YouTube it. Not really that hard. A chop saw, Nail gun, coated nails for the fencing. Won’t take long to get good at it.

Had to replace 3 sections of my fence a few weeks ago after a pretty good blow came through.
My pickets are cedar so if you go with pine it will be cheaper, but cedar pickets were $3.99 a piece.
I picked up 50 for 3 sections.
Total with 4x4s, 2x4, pickets and concrete was a little over $400

Not sure if you can find someone to come in and just set the posts but this would be the easiest way by far for an ordinary guy to build a fence.
I had this done many years ago and it was easy-peasy. I showed him where I wanted the fence and he came in and dug the holes and set the posts (4x4's) in sakrete. After the posts set up I nailed in runners and boards. Cheapest way I could get it done with my limited skills and funds.

6’ wood fence is 50/ft

Consider metal posts, they last longer and don't warp. 4X4's are horrible for warping and cracking.

Yikes. I used to put them up for 15/ft. Maybe 15 yrs ago.

Holy shite. You serious, Clark?
Just started planning out my list for ~200ft and should be under $2500 in materials.

Nail gun
Don't do this.
Screws only.
At my last house, the previous owner had a privacy fence around 2 acres, about half of it was done with nails and the other half with screws (why half and half, I don't know). The nailed portion was shite, warped, planks blowing down in every summer thunderstorm. Nails backing themselves out due to expansion and contraction of the wood. The screwed parts were pristine.

Look into 4x4 Spikes, if your soil type isn't too rocky or otherwise fricked up, it's easier than digging holes and messing around with concrete. One by itself isn't all that stable, but once they are all connected together with the runners and planks, it's very solid.

before covid it was 20/ft all day. Getting it F/I now for less than 50 is almost impossible

I paid $35/ft for 8’ pine a month ago

Do the screws crack the wood? It would be a PITA to pre-drill holes for an entire fence line.

You can get 6’ wood fence all day long in Baton Rouge from an insured company for $23/Lf. Just had them do two jobs for us.

You can get them to just set the posts and deliver material for a good price. I know several guys that have done that. Putting up the boards and doing the gates is the easiest part of the project. Had I not been in an emergency situation and known some contractors are willing to do that when I put mine up, that would have been the route I would have taken. In 2017 my 430'x 6' fence was $14/foot.

Nails will not back out if you use, ring shanked nails, a weather coated nail, made for the right application. The glue in the rack of nails, when shot, heats up the nail, allowing the glue and nail to bond to the wood.
