He's already said he'd be open to doing a series. If successful, that could occupy him for a long time. Do I think it'll be his last movie? No. But he's 60 years old, so if he burns the next decade with this film, a series, and another book...
Eta.

This doesn't seem like a good way to go out

Let me guess, the film critic will say "frick" a lot.

I have a hard time believing he’s going to hang it up. Tarantino has even talked about how Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott are still making good movies in their 70s and 80s.

The public doesn't realize he's remaking or doing an homage to old movies because most are foreign or usually obscure Hong Kong flicks. The dialogue is his, the premise and action scenes are often not.

I don't think the general idea of the film really matters. It's a Tarantino film, so if you like him you'll like it, if you don't like him don't bother

Y’all are really outing yourselves in here complaining about a female protagonist in a Tarintino film he’s been doing that since the fricking early 90s, put your culture war pitchfork down Jesus

I don't think that is what everybody mehing about. It could be a male movie critic in the 70s and still sound boring.

That hits far closer to home for me than you realize.
I was bumping three of those joker card albums about a month or so ago.

The reason I asked initially is because QT is someone who seems to enjoy the spotlight (at least the adoration that comes along with it). So I'd find it difficult to believe that he would hang it up and live out his years in semi-non-relevance.

quote:It's Tarantino. He'll have film critic Pauline Kael killing G. Gordon Liddy prior to the Watergate break-in, then she'll fly out to Munich to gun down the terrorists before they can kidnap the Israeli Olympians. The second reel has her freeing the remaining POWs from Vietnam. The film ends with her assassinating Nixon after he wins his third term as President in 1976.

Seriously, after seeing how Tarantino recreated the late 60's for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I'll see this film if only for seeing the 1970's come alive again.

I think he transitions to TV and longer-form stuff. I mean the Hateful Eight has already been cut as a limited series, so it works.
I know Quentin personally - THIS is the correct answer (maybe).
He will make one more film but he has no intention on working into his 60s.
He will NEVER shoot a movie in digital and he wants to end before he get old and starts making dumb films like the Fabelmans or Avatar 3.

I think this is what Quentin thinks.
But he’s not magically going to stop coming up with ideas or just stop writing forever.
If he lives into his 80s at some point he’s going to have an idea he wants to see on film.

Yes, we know he’s done female protagonists since the early 90s. If we had a problem with female protagonists, then we wouldn’t be Tarantino fans. It’s the idea of a female 70s film critic, and really it’s the 70s film critic part, that sounds dull. I’m sure it’ll be stylized and edgy, just doesn’t sound appealing.
