Exactly. He has the end game in his sights, yet wants that last 10% for ego.

Who’s Snyder?
“Unless Snyder steps up it looks like the options are sit out or play under the $32 million tag and pray he doesn't get a career ending or limiting injury.”

So it’s now safe to say there isn’t someone quietly guiding him in the background for a few percent cut
Prior to the “it’s collusion” narrative, there was a lot of talk of that the NFLPA was guiding him. The problem is that their interest was in seeing the biggest guaranteed contract possible.

Not knowing a whole lot about this thing, Lamar looks like a fricking idiot. Which, to be fair, he’s never come across as a particularly intelligent person anyway.
I can respect not wanting golden handcuffs. He may have already squirreled away enough to be comfortable.

Guess Lamar has no interest in winning a SB. There's only a couple of QB's that can take up that much of the cap and still win a SB and Lamar ain't one of them.

You sound like a complete moron.
You’re acting like he’s choosing not to play football and will show up at your office tomorrow for work.
He’s going to sign somewhere. He’s not turning any money down.

He’s a former mvp. If jalen hurts can get to a Super Bowl, Lamar Jackson certainly can.

also think there is going to be a point soon where the tides start changing as far as QB contracts.
It doesn't look that way right now. Hurts is about to sign a huge deal. Then Burrow and Herbert are up. Someone is going to get 60M a year. They believe it's going to be Lawrence. The TV deals keep going up and QBs still are the premier position. Contracts are not going to start declining..

Lamar is his own agent. That should tell you a lot.

On a rookie deal with highly paid veterans all around him. That was the poster’s point. Jackson isn’t Mahomes and can’t carry a team by himself to a Super Bowl. He needs talented vets and if he’s taking up Mahomes or Watson or Rodgers level cap space, he never will have that

How do you know this for a fact?

No it didn’t. It’s one qb who’s dumbass doesn’t even have an agent. The browns are stupid for giving Watson that much guaranteed, doesn’t mean it fricked a lot shite up though
Watson set the market. A top 10 QB but not top 5 gets that kind of guaranteed money, of course every single QB that’s better than Watson will want more and a similar fully guaranteed deal. Lamar is an idiot, but he has an MVP. He thinks he’s better than Watson and deserves more, and he’s not wrong

This has obviously become a pride issue for Lamar. He doesn’t want to be seen as backing down now that he’s dug his heels in. A decent agent would knock that pride out of him and have him take the deal. But he’s too emotionally tied to this now. It’s going to result in a messy divorce

Really can’t believe Lamar turned that down. NFL owners are making it very obvious that fully guaranteed contracts aren’t going to be the norm (and they shouldn’t be in a contact sport where career-altering/ending injuries happen all the time). Will be curious to see what he gets offered in free agency.

The MVP argument is very tiresome although I absolutely don’t blame it for being used. The physical abilities that got him the MVP are eroding by the year at an age where almost every qb is starting to enter their prime. His passing numbers are not improving and he’s getting hurt more frequently.
Watson was terrible after missing so much time but pre suspension his game was much more conducive to being a long term franchise qb.

Thesw contracts are just stupid
Go back to the 4yr 50mil 30mil guarenteed
You do realize players are guaranteed a specific % of revenue, right? These contracts are increasing as NFL revenue increases.
You're going to blow a gasket when they start the NFL starts its new TV deals in a couple of years and revenues explode

Jalen Hurts led a team to a SB on a rookie deal.
If Lamar wants to take a $5M deal, I'm sure you can build a title-contending team around him. At $50M? Naw

Contracts are also still shitty compared to top NBA and MLB deals especially given the length of careers and long term risk. The NFLPA is very weak compared to those other unions.
