There was the omnipresent "nuclear war" (this was more the early-mid 80s and slacked off quickly in the late 80s, especially after Reagan's "tear down this wall" speech).

Did it though? We were still doing bomb drills in the late 80's and 90's. Hiding under the desk was totally gunna save us from the nuclear bomb dropped a few miles down the road at Exxon.

Is that still unsolved? It was a nationwide panic in the early 80’s, but the deaths were all limited to the Chicago area.

LSD in Halloween candy. I think it was my destiny to become a drug addict because even at age 7 the only thought that came to my mind was that would be amazing if I got a piece of candy with LSD in it. And I had no idea what LSD was.
