New coke was a disaster

My uncle still orders “Coke classic” when he is in a restaurant. In 2023.

THAT is how big of a disaster “new Coke” was in the 80s.

American Heart Association's commercials attacking eggs.

Just Say No brain on drugs (eggs frying in the pan).

Ozone layer, aerosol cans.

Devil worshippers/exorcisms, playing certain vinyl records backwards.

Len Bias (just one hit of cocaine will kill you).

Flashing lights and gang members with no lights on will get you shot.

I recall that almost all of them are incredibly exaggerated years later.

There was the omnipresent "nuclear war" (this was more the early-mid 80s and slacked off quickly in the late 80s, especially after Reagan's "tear down this wall" speech)

You think that speech made people less fearful of nuclear war????? People's fear only eased when the Soviet Union collapsed. If you want to make the claim that the statement somehow brought about the collapse that's a little silly but even so the statement in itself didn't put people at ease.

Aids and nukes were the fear. Then drugs.

Another panic was "pedophile in a white van" panic. Every kid believed some dude was running around in a van gonna kidnap them.

Now, it is just basic arse white women convinced Latin fellows at Target are stalking them in their white vans in an effort to kidnap and human traffic them.

It has been 30-40 years, electricity is expensive. Paper is still plentiful thanks to recycling and the collapse of the newspaper publishing industry. Plastic is now a thorn in the environment because it doesn’t biodegrade releases toxic chemicals if burned, and kills animals that inadvertently eat it like fish. Can we go back to paper?
Another crisis concerning paper was deforestation. Now we have so many pine trees they’re close to worthless, many regional paper and saw mills gone. So yes, back to paper.

Well this is the best live Panic Show of the 80's. It was one of the first soundboard bootleg taps that were circulated and is still to this day a a great show.

My dad had one of these and would save all his print jobs till 6AM and print in bulk. No matter how hard I tried, I could never get back to sleep after that annoying sound. Later I found out that he strategically did this as an alarm for my brother and I to get ready for school.

Satanism was big.

Insane asylums shuttered due to lack of funding, which led to crazies running in the streets.

A collect call coming from inside your own house. Axe murderer descends the stairs….

Getting lower ribs removed to auto-fellate. This one was pretty cool.
