On the SEC schedule format for football

It would make 8-4 still a possibility to be in the Top12. I think it still takes Texas and OU 2-3 years to get up to SEC speed to play an entire schedule.

I honestly don't see OU being consistently good while in the SEC. Texas will start to keep more players in the State than in recent years but I don't see either of them being elite for a while in the SEC. At least from a Football perspective.

Really not a bad set up if you think about it if they go to 9 game SEC format. Every 4 year starter gets all teams/stadiums.

If that's the 3 Perms, then who do the Tigers close the season with?

Alabama will close with Auburn.
Ole Miss will close with State.
Texas A&M will close with Texas. (I assume)

Maybe they move the Texas-Texas A&M up earlier in the season and leave LSU-A&M as the Finale.

Having Arkansas as one of the 3 Perms would solve the problem and return that game to the Finale. (Just play it Saturday NIGHT and NOT Friday afternoon)

What does it matter who we close the season with? Why does it have to be one of the permanent opponents?

God I hope not

That means you can be 5-4 in conference and get in. I'd rather see the best mid majors get in than that

The really need to simply do two divisions, divided by the AL/MS line.

Trying to use anything other than geography will not stand the test of time.

Four pods/groups of annual opponents should be:

Mizzou, OU, TAM, UT
Ark, Ole, MSST, LSU
Vandy, Tenn, AL, Aub
UK, UGA, SoCar, Fla

Or the two divisions:

West:
Mizzou, OU, TAM, UT
Ark, Ole, MSST, LSU

East:
Vandy, Tenn, AL, Aub
UK, UGA, SoCar, Fla

We would play on a rotating schedule 2 of the 8 teams from east every year for a total of 9 SEC games.

SECCG makes big $$$ and ESPN/ABC is not gonna give up that game. And make no mistake about it: ESPN/ABC/Disney is running the SEC now. It's not Sankey nor is the Bama-Tenn-UGA cabal that's running the SEC.
