Texas teenager shot and killed at Shreveport Mardi Gras parade - multiple shootings

According to Shreveport city leaders, Shreveport police are investigating two shootings that happened while the parade was going on. It happened on Oden Street and Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway Service Road near the Magnolia School of Excellence.
At 5:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway. When officers arrived to investigate, they learned that Elysian Fields High junior Kip Lewis, 17, of Marshall, Texas, was shot during the parade. He was transported to a Shreveport hospital, where he died at 6:17 p.m.

Tragic. So sad for this kids family. Should be worth noting that shreveport actually has lowered their murder rate the last couple of years where as BR and NOLA have only increased, so may be worth looking at this one up as more of what happens where the worst elements of society and local teenagers both attend an event. So put on that vest and carry your protection down in NOLA where its even worse.

Should be ten years minimum for illegal possession of a firearm and life for 2nd offense. I support stop and frisk, too.

Local teens who were there and witnessed it are saying it was a large group of very drunk Bossier teens who got into an altercation. They know who shooter is and yes, as previous poster said, it’s alleged yeehaw baws.

While everyone takes the time to blame race or politics, I'd just like to say RIP to this young man and send thoughts and prayers to his family. It's sad this happened, no matter who did it.
