this is a perfect description, and for the most part it remains to be that way

Yeah, the mardis gras stuff took off after I left for the most part. There was a token parade I believe when i was there, never went.

I went to MG in New Orleans a few times, saw it change from the 80s to 00s.

I didn't realize Mardi Gras ventured up that far.

God forbid anyone else in the country try to have a good time. It should only be reserved for the shite hole New Orleans.

One of the more fun ones you could go too. And this is from somebody who lived in both New Orleans and Lafayette for a while.

and before then the only "Cajun" food available was Don's

Yeah. That ain’t true. Just as an example there was some place that hasn’t been in businesss in a long time that was by that levee on the road to what is now Brooksbires arena. That place is long gone but it was a Cajun type place. Can’t think of the name.

Looks like there were 2 shootings at this parade. One they are calling an "altercation", and this one which they said was "horseplay".

The investigation has resulted in negligent homicide charges against the friend.

A 16-year-old accused in the shooting death of a Texas teenager during Saturday's Mardi Gras parade surrendered Wednesday to Shreveport police.

quote:

Shreveport police said Lewis, the juvenile and other friends from Texas had gathered in front of Magnolia School of Excellence on Clyde Fant Parkway to watch the Krewe of Gemini parade. Police said the group was playing around and chasing each other with plastic swords before the gun was discharged.

The horseplay then turned to "playing" with the handgun, authorities said. The 16-year-old pointed the gun at Lewis and it discharged, hitting him in the neck.

From Plastic swords to a handgun.

Surprised there aren’t gun charges. It doesn’t seem legal for a 16 year old to keep a handgun. Also based on jump from plastic swords I wonder if tested for alcohol or drugs that night.
