The fact that known corrupt politicians keep getting elected should answer your question. Corrupt politicians aren't exclusive to La, but once they are known to be corrupt and still get elected, it points to a much bigger problem.

Voter education!!
So many people in our state vote for politicians only because they recognize their name on the ballot. My sister voted for Mary Landreau because her name was the only she recognized. My dad was pissed beyond belief

The mentality of trash people that have no problem throwing out trash on the side of the road and a large community of people without a two parent household.

So many bad decisions, where would we be if Bennett Johnston had beaten Edwards 1971? Where would N.O. be if Fitzmorris had beaten Moon? Both elections were decided by a few hundred votes, but it went the wrong way for us.

Katrina, Betsy, Gustav, Ida combined didn't do the damage the Moon and EWE were responsible for. I saw the bagmen running themselves crazy trying to keep up with the cash.

The really hilarious thing is that when we do get someone in state gov't who is smart and honest, we ridicule them.

The states of the Old South pay dearly for the sins of their forefathers, the remnants of slavery are an albatross we will wear for centuries to come. At least we got good college football out of it.

Personally, I hope someone burns down every one of the godforsaken plantations, they are monuments to a system that enslaved the corrupt masters as well as their victims. Tell me the truth, would we not all be better off if in 1776 Jefferson had written a constitution that outlawed slavery? Hell yes.

LA politicians are known to be self-serving leeches. So last place never changes.

You've got an ingrained system of political corruption. It's improving

I have yet to see any proof of this.

Low IQ breeds faster than high IQ. Low morals/character breeds faster than model citizens. We are upside down in society and we won’t be able to right the ship.

What's stopping it from becoming a small Texas?

Is it just corrupt politicians?

If a Ron Desantis style character got into power could the state swing?

Would you financially support such a figure?

Keep dreaming.

There are multiple corners. We've got the river and everybody wants the water. What's stopping progress?

simplest way it can be explained. All it would take is one election to put the right ppl in the right places and you would see such drastic improvements that even the ppl holding us back now wouldn't be able to deny it. That is how much Louisiana has going for it from a resources stand point that but sadly this will never happen. Our best chance was when Bobby Jindal was Governor but he was too worrried about making his name nationally rather than making real changes in the state.

Texas has tons of corruption too bro, they just have more of everything

I think Texan politicians usually don’t flaunt their corruption quite as much and usually when it happens people go after it from both sides of the aisle.

The Harris County judge got caught awarding a more expensive bid to a political ally. She got called on it (by her own party) and at least had the decency to cancel the contract.

SWB and Cantrell wouldn’t even bat an eye.
