Congrats to Rummel, I umpired them twice during the season and they lost both times, games were not close.
Which games, the largest margin three run in between District loss to a pedestrian Chalmette, or the two run losses to Curtis, Northshore???

Yea my cousin coaches in the Knights organization in Alec. His son is a freshman on Menard and his younger son plays on 12u.

He said that a big core of the current Menard team has been playing together since 7U.

kids there are split among every team… Salmen may be the only school on the Northshore where travel ball kids wouldn’t go

I heard Salmen had so few Freshman and Sophomores not interested in baseball they are worried about future years.

Fontainebleau beat WM in Game 1 of their series. If they didn't burn both of their Mississippi State pitchers in 1 game, they very well might be in the finals tomorrow.

just think moving to the select/non select split has helped the bigger select schools

helped them how? the programs haven't changed outside of John Curtis, who used to just have football players play baseball. Now kids are going to JC to specialize in just baseball. They've probably been the most consistent Select team since the split.

The format change sucks but it hasn't changed or helped the programs any.

100k raised

Well over that, at a time when the area was truly in turmoil from the storm. People literally not back in their homes

And I know Cecchini bust his arse as well. I’ve been to a dinner he and his wife cooked as an auction item. LOL

Always hated him on the other side of the field, but came to respect him once I met him. And I was there when he coached 3rd under Hannum

And since we’re enjoying a civil baseball thread here, I’ll mention that in the days prior to splitting into NISH and Westgate, New Iberia enjoyed 5 championships in 10 years

helped them make deeper playoff runs than they would have

perfect example is rummel....they wouldnt even be in the playoffs without the split.

not surprising. seen a lot more raised. it honestly all depends on when they have it and who they can get invited.

Thats my point. Its the hand that is dealt but has no bearing on what we are talking about, because no one puts stock into the select championship. It's basically a final 4 type thing every year. No variation or competition. It doesn't help them. in any sense Everyone wants to go back to the old way.

well shite why didnt you say that from the beginning

i agree. should go back but the smaller publics dont want that.

if we are going to stay how we are the followign needs to happen

16 per division
all rounds 2 of 3
semi at higher seed
finals- 2 out of 3 at sulphur

would love to see the champions play the week after but wont happen

so was posted that last night Landon sat 92-95 and hit 97. Wouldnt surprise me as the extra rest prolly had him feeling good and he was pretty dominant after the 2nd. but thats highs for him for sure.

oh and Pitkin tigers coached by LSU great JC Holt just won Div V championship. congrats to them

Do you think the smaller classes that don’t already should play best 2 out of 3 playoffs?

Yes I do. Just my opinion but shouldn’t get to rely on 1 pitcher

Probably not. The quality of a third starter would make for some ugly ballgames.

They SHOULD have to start their playoffs at the same time as everyone else though and should have their championship games a week or two ahead of the rest. Imagine if Divisions IV and V had finished last weekend. That's 16 less teams to have to accommodate and 10 less games to have to be finished... that would have made it a whole lot easier to adjust for the weather that has happened this week.

DeQuincy once trailed 9-1. Now in the eighth inning, tied 10-10 with Oak Grove
