This is the kind of thing that should qualify as “woke”, meaning seeing/stating reality even if it’s not widely accepted.

Lamar Jackson’s dad died of a heart attack when he was 8 years old and was raised by his mom after that

He’s right. Look at the QBs that succeed in the NFL and those that don’t. Nobody wanted to coach Kyler Murray this year bc he’s not a leader and he’s not smart and he’s not disciplined
Well, sure. But considering Deion is a college coach. And Kyler Murray literally won the Heisman in college.
Your logic doesn't fully fit here.

Hell, Bret Bielema made it a point to recruit from two parent households when he was at UW. Few off the field problems and academics weren't as much of a issue.

I still think of his time with the Braves before anything else when I hear his name.

Haha I love this. If it were ANYBODY but Deon they’d be getting destroyed for these type of comments, but Deon gets a pass because it’s Deon.

12 months ago, who would have thought that Colorado @TCU would be one of the most interesting games of Week 1 2023

I’m sure the data will back his QB requirements though
Probably so, but how many QBs from single parent households are there to choose from even in high school?
You don’t really have to look for these traits in QBs and DEs because the positions self-select early in a career.

Great work. Deion might be on to something.
To add to the point even more. Pat's parents may be divorced, but both parents are still very much in his life.

Deion is slowly becoming a favorite coach of mine. Dude keeps it brutally real.
I don't blame him for saying things such as this as he knows his status as a player and his race allow him to do so. Being a black coach, he can say things concerning social issues affecting the black community that white coaches cant, and honestly would look foolish in attempting it.
At the end of the day, its just a semi-funny observation on real shite in the real world that shouldn't offend anyone.

A white coach would be fired if he said that

That was a dumbass thing to say. No upside to it at all.

Brian Kelly wants the same. Just would never be so candid as Coach PRIME.
Posted on 2/17/23 at 10:29 pm to Dire Wolf
I like Deion these days.
This is shite that is applicable to multiple sports with regards to recruiting, at least with the kinds of players coaches chase.
In the early 90s, Duke and Coach K wanted clean cut upstanding kids like Grant Hill as their recruits. The Fav Five of Michigan made it personal when playing Duke because they were all street kids who hated the kinds of kids who made it to Duke.
