It's a small town. If that is good will be up to you. I personally like larger population centers

Clean. Decent schools. Low crime.

I find it dull. But I think a great place for a young family.

Rush hour sucks in a few places.

I agree with this. I lived in Huntsville for most of the 2010s for university and work. I have visited 3 times since moving to Dallas.

Give me Bandera County Texas and the Fort Worth area over North Alabama anyday.

Never heard one ill word about it from anyone who lives there. They all like it.

But it seems like one big govt contract.

It’s gotten noticeably more crowded since COVID. Traffic is eventually going to be a concern with the suburban sprawl issue, but honestly I love it here.

The Madison area has exploded… even over into east Limestone county. Housing is crazy and the traffic in Madison, especially on Hwy 72, around rush hour and after 3pm is terrible. The city has not been able to keep up with the demands on infrastructure.

Maybe look south of the river in Morgan county at Priceville or Decatur. However, I-565 is a horrible mess every a.m. and p.m. with daily wrecks backing up traffic. You just have to adjust your schedule.

Not sure if it still is but it was
at one time considered to be the most dangerous city in the USA for tornado activity. It's not that they get one every year, it's that when they do come it's usually one of those end of days types.

I’m an empty nester. Bought a big house on a mountain and Moved to HSV a year ago. East and southeast neighborhoods are great. Traffic is best you’ll find for comparable population. Moved here because jobs are good and plentiful (not that I’m looking for work but glad those who are can find it). Appears to be a Great place to raise a family. Population of educated and purposeful people. We like it.
