Nah, that's athens... but it'll be engulfed by Huntsville soon at this rate.

My dad tried to get the town and county to incorporate as one entity ala Nashville-Davidson back in the 80's. They laughed at him, but look who keeps lassoing the most economically productive areas of Limestone Co.

If I were OP, I'd buy a good chunk of land in Jackson Co and get some good clean country living.

Sleepy boring town nestled in north Alabama with good schools. Besides being boring you will be surrounded by Auburn and Alabama fans . Low key does have good access to outdoor activities though. So it has that going for it.

Close friend of mine from the delta moved to Priceville he loves it up there. You’ll find him drinking at JWs steakhouse every Friday night

I was just there a couple weekends ago. Bought some cool paintings from a guy Michael Schreck who used to get paid by African governments to hunt man eating lions and shite. His house is incredible, like a museum full of African stuff, mounted safari game, elephant tusks, paintings he did of pictures he took (one of a lion eating one of his hunting guides, painting was of an actual picture he took of the lion with a half eaten man on the ground right before he shot it. He also had a ton of family heirlooms from the civil war including sabers, daggers, muskets and colt revolvers. My friend is helping him sell and promote his artwork on social media. Really fascinating guy to talk to

They have a state of the art soccer complex.

I spent a whole weekend sitting in a chair in the June heat covering the state championship soccer tournament this past summer.

And they have the Von Braun center. Spent a week there covering the wrestling state championship tournament

Yeah, me too unless he has to drive to research park. Could do it though, I have a friend that does.

There’s some good caving south of there, and good climbing east…

ive never been there but based off what i read about it on here, it's one of those places that's pretty nice now but will be an overcrowded, traffic nightmare, hellhole of transplants and generic suburban development soon enough

I wasn't born there but have lived there 3 different times for a total of 23 years - left last time in 2006 but I still visit there occasionally for personal/business trips.

It's a great area - largest population in Alabama now. Great job market - current unemployment is under 2% - housing costs are very reasonable - $300-400k will buy a new brick home w/amenities. Since DoD/NASA/DoJ are major employers, area is damn near recession-proof.

If I were to move back, I would buy a place on Lake Guntersville, 20-30 miles east of Huntsville. Easy commute and fantastic lifestyle IMNSHO.

It’s still Alabama. It’s trying damn hard not to be though, so there is that.

Move to Madison and commute to Huntsville may be a common response. Both are awesome.

For authentic Alabama culture, live in Lacey’s Spring and commute to work.

Not really a city per se, more like a sprawling suburb with a town in the center. But it is growing. Job wise not a bad place to be. Decent schools. Close to decent fishing and hunting opportunities.

We called the coolest one Devil’s Corkscrew, but I can’t find anything about it online. Perhaps we trespassed.

Big Bangor is cool too.

I sell technology remotely. I heard Madison mentioned and didn't realize that was the atmosphere. I need to end up with a little space, not too far from town, with some good ol boys.
