Are you cool with reparations?

Interesting, and you think the purpose of that video is to build a level playing field for everyone?

It would seem they are doing that, but Disney is doing just fine and know they can put this out and it not hurt them
They just forced their CEO to resign 2-3 months ago.
Their stock has gone from the mid $150's a year ago to around $110 today(it's basically the flat from five years ago).

Come on, you know the market is way down in general, let's not act like it's just Disney.

apparently have a major share holder that is apparently trying to get a seat on the board to further shake up management. Also rumors floating around that they want to sell off some IPs like Star Wars
I have no idea about any of this, maybe it's true, bit if they sell off Star Wars I'd be pretty surprised. I'll believe that when I see it.

Also Don’t confuse raw box office numbers with movies making “bank” outside of Avatar they had a lot of movies lately that have been disappointing at best.
But go back to the movie that really started Tigerdroppings to hate Disney, The Last Jedi. TLJ did 1.3 billion According to this board, that was going to be the downfall of Disney. What did TROS do? Over a billion. Six of their highest grossing films of all-time have come AFTER The Last Jedi. A movie that wasn't really even hyped that much, Wakanda Forever, did close to a billion and then became their most streamed movie ever for Disney+. Having movies like that more than make up for having flops like Lightyear.
You have shows that this board hates that are all part of Disney setting itself on fire, Obi-Wan, Falcon and Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, etc., all did well. Just because this board doesn't like them, doesn't mean they weren't a success. That's not even counting the shows that pretty much everyone liked, WandaVision, Loki, Mandalorian and others.

Disney has not paid a dividend check for the first time in 50+ years. Disney is in serious financial trouble right now and its growing.
They were not successful. Disney+ lost 4 billion last year alone. The content was not good enough to drive subscriptions. You can talk about propaganda or not propaganda, the bottom line is nothing that Disney is producing right now can offset its losses. The creative direction they are taking is losing them billions of dollars and destroying cash cow IPs. Their stock has lost half its value in a year. Avatar was the only thing produce in the last year to make money for Disney.

The Dow is down 3.4% over the past 12 months and up 28% over the past five years.

slavery existed for less than half of the US' history, by less than half the states, by less than 10% of the population.
it's terrible and it's consequences are far reaching today, but it IS ancient history.

And Disney was at $97 five years ago and is at $109 now.
I'm not making an argument that Disney is rocketing away, I'm saying that some of these shows and movies aren't burning them to the ground like so many on here think they are.

Accounting for inflation, Disney's stock was at $116 five years ago...

It ain't looking good for them. It's not exactly a secret that there is some discord amongst the highest echelons of company leadership. When the CEO gets fired, something is broken, I don't care whether the company makes movies or waffle irons.

I mean what point is this trying to prove? Honestly. Is a $7 difference over 5 years really an argument that shows the company is burning itself to the ground? Because that's what I was responding to.

Yes they are. Disney's parks division is keeping it afloat. The rest is dragging it down.

The point is that we were so fricking brainwashed into believing "America Great, Everyone Else Bad" growing up that it's almost impossible to break the hold that mindset has on people now.
Are you kidding? The leftists have controlled the governmental educational industry for over 50 years. It is a constant self-flagellation over every sin and transgression that America has committed without ever speaking of the greatness of America. The American Revolution? Greedy white male colonists resorting to violence to line their own pockets. Settling of the American continent and westward expansion? Cultural genocide of the Indians, environmental exploitation and destruction. WWII? Spend more time discussing America's moral equivalency to Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan or the sinfulness of dropping the atomic bomb than the greatness of America. Hell, kids are still taught Roosevelt's New Deal actually helped get us out of the Depression than the reality that it worsened the economy.
Spare me your bullshite about how kids are brainwashed with American Exceptionalism in school.

What point were you trying to prove?
That despite all these incredible record-grossing films, Disney is still behind the chains compared to where they were five years ago?
You were clearly throwing that data point out there as a way of saying: "ha, their stock has actually gone up over the past five years."
My point was that it hasn't.

What’s your point? So because every country has a terrible history we have to throw fit when a show points out our own terrible history
This is not a dispassionate interpretation of history. It's an attempt to leverage history into current grievance politics with the intention of a divestiture of power from those who took no part in it. It is the eradication of the individual in favor of the group. It is the normalization of shoddy historical interpretation guided entirely by ideology. It is the outright telling of lies shouted vigorously and consistently enough to be accepted as truth through sheer intimidation. It is retribution. It is vengeance. It is the worst of humanity. It is evil.
And nothing less.

Nice strawman, no one said it was the only stock that is down the S&P 500 is down roughly 20% from a year ago, Disney is down 50% that’s considerably worse than the broader market.

I don’t think “what some posters on TD said” is a useful starting point. However, the SW prequels box office take dropped each movie and Solo was a flop. I realize some complaints about TLJ being woke are out there, I never agreed with take it was just a bad movie. I did go see Ep IX which was a jumbled mess just to see it thru. I’ve never seen Solo, the SW prequels made me realize back story’s are better left to the imagination.

Wow most streamed movie in the whole what 2 years of the streaming service it was generally considered a disappointment box office wise from what I’ve read, probably because of Boseman’s death. I really don’t understand why they didn’t try to replace him.

You are judging things on what this board says and then if certain posters or YT commentators complain about it being “woke” then ignore any criticism of it. Most of those shows you listed are disappointments numbers wise. It’s literally going to be no one watching. Not Disney but look at Velma, people were touting “most watched HBO animated series, viewers up 127% for 2 episode or whatever but it’s getting completely trashed by critics not just “Maga” viewers.
There are definitely serious problems at Disney, denying that is just doing so because of who is saying it’s “setting itself on fire”. They have been putting out a lot of crap, some of it is over saturation some of it destroying beloved characters some is the “message” but in the end it’s boils down bad writing, bad production unoriginal stories.

So what are some facts/numbers that tell you the movie/tv/streaming side is dragging it down or killing it? I am not dead set on my opinion. I'd love to hear facts rather than week after week complaining ever since TLJ came out.
Because honestly for many on here it's been "TLJ sucked I'll never watch another Star Wars project" *proceeds to watch The Rise of Skywalker* "Disney is killing itself" *proceeds to watch all the Marvel movies* "Falcon and Winter Soldier was crap!" *proceeds to watch Loki* "Obi_-Wan was trash Disney is screwing up" *proceeds to watch Andor and still has Disney+ subscription*
