Missouri legalized recreational marijuana....a local news crew went to a dispensary.

In the last election Missouri legalized recreational marijuana, I questioned at the time if legalized weed would begin a shift from MO being a pretty conservative state to MO shifting purple and eventually Blue. Well, that is to be determined but it was interesting to hear a local news crew in KC question some people standing in line at a dispensary that was officially opening last week. One of the young women standing in line was asked if the legalization of marijuana was a step forward for the state and she answered she has hopes the legalization of marijuana will lead to a less conservative society in MO. Some older black man stated he thinks the use of marijuana will take some of the violence out of society ......ya know, mellow people out. Most of the people that had the mic shoved in front of their grills didn't have much of an opinion on what the legalization of marijuana means in MO other than ending the incarceration of Missourians for something that should not be illegal.
It's going to be an interesting thing to monitor over the next 5-10 years and see if States that legalized recreational marijuana begin shifting more Blue.

Really shouldn’t be a left or right issue. Same as alcohol.

High fructose corn syrup has already made this nation fat, lazy and unhealthy. Nothing like adding marijuana to the food pyramid. Fat, super lazy and unhealthy and you are a perfect corporate and government slave. You are an easy subject to control and manipulate.

Why should it be illegal?

Im sure it will be this thats the tipping point and not the multi generational cradle to grave handout system where 50% of people in the United States are a net negative to society.
More freedom is never bad.

Most of the largest cities in States are were the Liberals reside.
KC wouldn't be a good gauge. That's like going to Austin and asking if Texas is turning Groomer. The larger cites just contain more of the cesspool.

Should be legal everywhere, Arkansas has medical only and it’s just a government money grab. You have to pay hundreds of dollars to the state to renew your “license” every year and there’s a 15 percent tax on everything you buy.

It only happened with CO because they were an early adopter. With so many states legal now, it will not make a difference going forward.

As long as St. Louis/Kansas City don't grow at the rate Denver and Atlanta have, Missouri will be fine.

Marijuana legalization is a conservative policy.

Bass, since you live in a legal state now you should consider trying some THC gummies.
I can’t remember the last time I smoked, but I do enjoy taking a gummy each night to help with anxiety and sleep. Absolutely a game changer.

I would have been more interested in that interview if they had done it anywhere other than one of the progressive enclaves of the state.

I moved to Kansas City about a month ago. While I think it’s cool people can buy it legally now and smoke at home, I really don’t like forward to all of the people who will obviously bend the rules and smoke/vape in public. shite smells terrible, even outside it lingers in the air more than cigarette smoke, and it’s really annoying how potheads try and act like it smells good or something.
ETA:
at the potheads already downvoting. Smoke that nasty smelling shite in your house and nobody cares.

So y'all are selling already?
I haven't gotten a load gummies in a bit, and I guess I'm kinda bored with it.
But if I had to be in Bella Vista for something, I might swing up across the state line and check it out.

29And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
I’m going to go with the argument that Elohim gave us every plant yielding seed for food. Therefore we should be able to eat it (though not sure if smoking it counts).
Also such prohibitions are outside of the purview of the federal government (like so many things) according to the constitution.
People should be free to use a naturally occurring plant however they wish as long as it doesn’t harm others. We shouldn’t be all chipping in taxes to pay for fat lazy potheads’ healthcare anyway.

Should mj be put on a ballot the same as alcohol?
The KY state legislature have been fighting it out for several years about legalizing mj.

The only problem with legalization is the perpetuation of the myth that all weed is created equal. The brunt of the legalization rhetoric portrays the low THC version of weed most think of (with concentrations of less than 5%-6%) where much of the weed available now is at least double that and higher (when you get into oils you can get into the 90% realm).
This can become akin to equating a 12oz Miller Lite to a 12oz glass of vodka. No one in their right mind would say those are equivalents.
Constant, long-term exposure to those high-THC concentrations has been shown to cause manic issues (just as consuming lots of alcohol over a long period can cause mental and physical issues).
As many have said, weed should be treated just like alcohol but part of that is to acknowledge and accept that there are legitimate negatives with over-use. Much of the pro-weed crowd simply isn't there yet.

Ain't a blue vs. red thing. It's a freedom thing. Every argument against weed legalization can be made against booze.
Smell a rat when you find someone opposed to weed legalization who isn't also pushing equally as hard for the return of Prohibition.
ETA: I don't use marijuana, and I'm not much of an alcohol-drinker, either.
