What percentage of your total financial portfolio do individual stocks represent?

Not sure I worded that well. I am speaking to single stocks (TSLA) and not stock Mutual Funds or ETFs etc.
I’m excluding illiquid assets in “financial portfolio”.
I am at 5% here. Within 10 years of retirement with strong lean and plan to retire in 5 years.
Curious how the MT rolls with individual stocks as a mix of total financial portfolio. Why?…would be interesting too.

Zero. I’m 64 and below 50% in equities. I just blend using index funds. I have used some regular mutual funds in the past, but didn’t see better results with them.

90% individual stocks for me and 10% ETF's. I just like owning stocks. I own about 100 stocks total. Is it a lot to manage compared to etfs? yes but i enjoy doing it.

Zero. I'm very smart, but I'm not nearly smart enough to beat a bunch of people who are also very smart and do this for a living.

I'm a terrible investor. I'm just not any good at it. I am being a realist. I do not have the drive or the determination to do the research necessary to invest successfully.
I stick to FP driven allocations. I had about $100K worth of Amazon, got about 3% return then bailed. I have paper hands even with the surest of long sure bets when dealing with individual stocks.

My plan going forward is around 80 % Index fund, 20 % stock

In my taxable account, it’s 80% individual stocks with a sprinkling of ETFs.
In my tax advantaged accounts, it’s mostly mutual funds and ETFs.

Most (95%) of my financial portfolio is in IRA and Roth IRA accounts. All of that is in Mutual Funds and ETFs.

Almost all of it. I had been about 50/50 until the end of the summer. I sold almost all my index funds then held that money for a while, and am now slowly buying into individual stocks.
I'll get back into funds when I think the market has started turning around.

I have a few that I’ve held a while like Apple but I throw everything into a fidelity fund each month. Maxed out the 9.62 bonds last October with some extra cash I didn’t need to have in savings. Will probably pull it out when it matures and put most towards various other funds I have. I am thinking about buying a chunk more of Tesla though and sitting for ages.

20% individual stocks/ 80% funds

About 35%
I suspect that ratio to go down slowly over time though as I put more in my 401k than individual retirement accounts.
