There’s a sandwich shop by the Courthouse that’s good, think it’s the Courthouse Grill.
Hogfish on Stock Island.
Go to Fausto’s grocery early, get a fresh loaf of Cuban bread and fixings for your own sandwich.
Not sure if BO’s Fishwagon is still open, they used to have a pretty good fish sandwich.
Garbo’s is hit or miss.
Quite honestly, a ton of KW eatery’s are overpriced and the food/service can be shaky. When we go to KW we tend to get a VRBO, get seafood and stuff from Fausto’s and fix it ourselves.
Latitudes had great food and service. Ferry to Sunset Keys was the highlight of our trip. I prefer the lunch time for the pristine water views and scenery.
We stayed at the Hyatt Centric. KW was ok for a one time visit for us. Not much of a beach vibe or destination if that’s what you’re expecting. Not sure your age but KW seems to have a noticeable high ratio of seniors/retirees.
The only reason I really want to go to the Keys is to see Key deer. Not sure how easy it is to have sightings, but I’d hike in and wait all morning if I had to.
It's super easy, they're basically domesticated. I had one come up to me in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on Big Pine one time, fed it some trailmix out of my hand.
I will not have a car. Although I understand that the drive from Miami to Key West is a beautiful one, we are flying directly in to Key West and our B&B is centrally located.
I am sure that Latitude’s would be nice in the daytime. We wanted to go for dinner and the only time we could get reservations was for 9:15 even this far in advance.
We plan to go to some of the other restaurants overlooking the water.
I know that there is not much of a beach but that is okay. We get enough of that in Destin.
Yea the best beach is probably at Fort Zach, but it’s nothing incredible. The tour of the fort is pretty cool though. Unrelated but we usually like to do a sunset booze cruise one night while we are there.
There’s a pub crawl Catch every sunset you can Listen to last mango in Paris a couple times then hit up captain Tony’s Get a pair of flip flops from kenos If available, take a jet ski tour of the islands-not sure if seasonal
As most have already said, no need to have a car on the island. Rent a bike for a few days, quick to get around and no issues with parking. Plenty of bike rental places that will deliver and pick up at the end of the rental.
Like others mentioned getting around on a bicycle is best, we brought our bikes and never moved our vehicle the entire time.
Santiago's Bodega was probably our favorite meal we had.
The Hemmingway House and Maritime Museum were more entertaining than I expected and are worth checking out.
Lots of places on Duval have pretty decent happy hours. We had a pretty good time hopping from place to place, grabbing a couple drinks and a bite, BS'ing with the bartenders, then onto the next place.
It's a small plate/tapas place. It's been a couple years but looking at the menu I remember we had the spinach salad, lamb rack, and beef tenderloin with blue cheese butter that were great, as well as a few other things.
Santiago's Bodega and Louie's Backyard were to two nice dinner places we ate at while there and we both agreed Santiago's was a better meal by a pretty wide margin.
Louie’s Backyard, Hot tin Roof and Matt’s Stock Island are all great. Schooner Wharf Bar is cool right next to Jimmy Buffets original recording studio.
