What culture is that? Rape of intoxicated females is pretty much unbiased from a cultural perspective

Oh well in that case, he’s absolved of all responsibilities and can have his way with her. /sarcasm

I don’t know what you want me to say here. It’s not an excuse for him to take advantage of the girl. There isn’t ever a scenario that makes it ok.

Can you still name any town with that many horrific events in such a short time period? This doesn’t even count robberies and other lesser crimes happening to students or on campus. The campus crime surge colleges don't tell parents about

That article is about campuses in urban areas. I understood his comment as saying he could find horrific events like LSU’s at ANY campus. I’m betting there are plenty of safe college towns where the violent crime doesn’t equal violent crime in BR or against LSU students.

In general the cities mentioned share common demographics with Baton Rouge. Who runs them and who are the majority of people committing violent crimes? I wouldn’t send my kid to any of them either.

I do have a daughter. I also have a son. I will have two very different conversations with them in high school and college. I’m just saying it’s extremely hypocritical for kids in college to be at a party, be at the same level of inebriation, go frick, and the guy can be charged with rape. This belief has no bearing on this case and I hope these four males, not men, that did this rot in hell. .319 is damn near comatose. In no situation is that explainable.

As the mom of a son and 2 daughters… I agree with this.

Scary situation for parents of both boys and girls.

It happens in some segments of society more than others.

In all the college towns across the country, probably many times a night. Girl gets drunk and goes home with random dude she’s been around most of the night. They mess around in the car or at a house and she gets dropped off somewhere. End of story. Was it ever my college experience? Nope. But there’s a small percentage whose nearly every weekend starts off the same way. Again, she was in a sorority and probably started out with friends. Where did they go? I’m not saying they’re at fault, just that people (kids) need to learn to take care of one another especially when one drinks so much.

Only in the weakest, most mealy-mouthed manner possible. He’s describing the actions in a vacuum as if there were no actual perpetrators.

She was sitting outside the bar alone and these 4 dudes came and noticed she was seriously intoxicated. Coerced her in the car and took advantage of her. Once they were done, they kicked her out the vehicle.

The article I read earlier says she was in the bar and hugging/holding hands with the 17yo. When she stood up she pulled up on her pants and stumbled.

What Scruffy wishes would happen is that the entire area of Tigerland, all of it, was purchased, razed, and rebuilt as an appropriate locale for college students.

that would be great, but how does that stop the trash from Walker and Denham Springs (or anywhere else) coming to Tiger Land?

Someone alluded to it earlier in the thread, but it makes you wonder how often situations like this happen without the girl being killed, yet never makes the news.

Seems like this scenario could play out every weekend

Sadly often. You ever seen the results of surveys when women are asked about if they experienced sexual assault on campus? Something like 1/4 reply “yes”.

Now that doesn’t mean 25% of college girls are gang raped them dumped on the side of the road but it is eye-opening.

I’m sure every guy who went to college and had any social life has been in a situation where women were drunk to extreme vulnerability. Some fricked up sickos do what you or I consider unthinkable in these moments.

Did you even read my post? I said the notion that two adults that are equally buzzed should not put all the responsibility on the one with a dick.

I also said that the above scenario is not what happened here and has no bearing on it.

He literally says in the last paragraph real and long lasting solutions require multiple strategies and they won’t stop there.

It’s much easier for a university to target a bar that predominantly serves their students than it is to fight crime on behalf of the entire city. It’s an unfortunate situation for LSU and Tate to be in, but this gives them the opportunity to take down some trash in tigerland.

I’m sure they’re privately handling things with the mayor and police chief.

you seem to be slinging a lot of blame around without knowing all the facts...perhaps she was bought the drinks by the 28 year old...perhaps she was mostly drunk before she got there...perhaps she had other drugs in her system...perhaps she was alone in the bar without friends...

I am very happy I was able to drink before I was 21 in bars...it made for some good times...not once did I think about doing what these kids did.

Exactly. Punish the bar for serving minors, but the focus needs to be on the actual perpetrators and the dysfunctional, babyshit-soft police who do nothing to discourage crime as well as an embarrassingly incompetent Mayor who leads them.

White women are way more likely to be raped by a white male

93% off sexual crimes are committed by someone of the same race. Race really doesn’t need to be a part of this story. The NAACP I’ll make it so though

My point is the same as what oilfield detailed. It sucks for the guy who suddenly bears all of the responsibility when a girl has just one sip of alcohol. If she drinks at all, she is absolved of all responsibility when it comes to sex. Not exactly a fair system for the guy. Not talking about this situation necessarily. Because it seems Carver was sober enough to know how drunk she was and that it was wrong.

You put a Drivers License Scanner at the front door and if it doesn't pass the scanning detection software you know it is fake. Most bars across the US have these in place to detect fake IDs.

Every Tigerland bar has these. It covers their arse. Kids are smart enough to buy fake ID’s that scan. Bars don’t care because it’s how they make their money, and they don’t get in trouble because they can just say the ID scanned.

Ironically Fred’s is the only Tigerland bar that doesn’t scan, and they are the strictest. They reject any ID that they know is fake no matter if it scans or not. They can do that because they have an older crowd and a reputation/popularity that allows them to.

They could require you to show a college student ID along with your drivers license. right after Katrina, the boot and other New Orleans college bars dealt with a bunch of the Mexican workers coming in and harassing college girls. That’s what they did as a result. If you didn’t have proof that you were a college student, you couldn’t be in a college bar. It kept the riff raff away. Reggie’s is culpable for letting this trash in their bar.
