I don’t completely disagree. Im just not sure if that change in style will equate to being worth giving the guy likely the biggest contract for a qb in the nfl.

I just think this risk is higher than the potential reward as he ages. As a rule though I don’t really think running qbs are great long term answers in the nfl. Their production basically always decreases from when they seemingly take the league by storm initially.

If you were getting him without compensation through FA it’d be different. But if I’m trading the farm AND paying a guy I want to know that he’s going to be an elite passer and elevate the team around him for a long time barring catastrophic injury.

Totally get all that.

My thing is we are probably never going to be in the top 10 of the draft. We are in that unenviable position of being just good enough but not terrible enough.

Realistically, im not sure how else we get a QB. Maybe we can mitigate some of the picks with players.

I don’t know man. We would be picking 10 right now with the pick we have the eagles. I think we have another few years of pain as we have to navigate post Brees/CSP.

Better than what you pay Lamar. He turned down 130 million guaranteed, people myself included, bitched about paying drew 1 year more after he retired, imagine being on the hook for over 200 million for a quarterback that has barely played a two thirds of the season the last two years and that's because the strong point of his game is probably the main reason why

He’s going to be franchise tagged. If he’s tagged with the non-exclusive label, he’ll cost 2 first round picks, plus his new contract.

My point was if he were under contract, hypothetically.

Watson is a drop back qb that can run. Lamar is a running back that can throw. He wants a guaranteed contract. No way you give that to a running qb or any player really, but especially a running qb.

A lot of running QB propogande flying around here. As long as we are clear, Lamar had two accute injuries on sacks on dropbacks the last two years.

in '21 on a sack 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage when the defender lunged for him and came down on his ankle

This season the defender sacked him from the back 10 yards behind the LOS, came down hard on top of him causing him to bang his leg

Guy has won 65% of his starts and has not had a bunch of weapons at his disposal at one time.

Mahomes boasts a 6.4% TD pass % (5th all time), Lamar is at 6.1% (10th all time). People who think he cant get by as a passer are frickin dumb

If the Saints want to go in this direction, find a Lamar in a draft for a lot cheaper.

I tend to agree with you

I would much rather trade for Lamar than Deshaun

I mean, not only is Deshaun a piece of shite, the 2 year leave from the game has also resulted in him playing like shite (which was predictable)

Yeah, Lamar probably only has 4-5 more good-great years.

That would still be fun as a Saints fan. I guess this fanbase would rather roll with Simeian and Andy Dalton types

But I’m not in that boat personally. This team is currently an absolute chore to pull for. It would not be that way with Lamar Jackson on the team.

Didn't he stay home for the playoff game? I think he wants out of Baltimore. They fricked him.

Saints dodged a huge bullet with Watson. The Browns stupidity saved them. Allen was in prime position to make a colossal mistake right off the bat. Lamar is also not someone I would pay fully guaranteed money to considering his skill set. A run first QB with a high probability of injury and below average passing.

Watson had also been injured and the sex escapades cast shade on him as well.

I'm starting to think the Saints only got in the Watson sweepstakes to troll Atlanta and Carolina.

seriously, where would the fricking money come from Lebowski?

While i agree with some of what you said, andrews is elite.

Mahomes' top target is kelce.

His contract will be up by the time he is 31. That is when you probably wouldn't want to pay him

I wouldn't be shocked if he sat out longer just to show the ravens.

After having Years of Tyreke.

Marquis Brown was halfway decent and they traded him.

This wasnt a knock on Andrews but its just kind of sad his best target is a TE.

I guess my point would be had they got him a real #1 he wouldnt have to run to the extent he does

He wouldn’t play in a playoff game because he’s supposedly hurt, enough said. I get he wants his money, but he took the pussy way out.
