Basic services outside of Louisiana…

I moved about 6 months ago and it was amazing how much I noticed the difference. Ran errands this past weekend at several places that have equivalents in NOLA/BR. Every place I went had basically full employment with workers shuffling people through quickly and we’re professional, helpful, and polite.

Even using the USPS to ship a return was no issue at all. All lanes were filled and there was a manager standing directly behind them seeing how long each person took and what issues they were in for. I could go to the one on Louisiana in New Orleans anytime and have to wait for 20+ minutes before I could even talk to someone. And god help you if you had to get out of line to do what you needed and wait again.

We even went to Popeyes and was through the drive through with our correct multi person order in 2 minutes. Again, never happening outside of maybe canes or chic fil a and certainly not at Popeyes.

Had to have my battery replaced and where I went had multiple people out there to help diagnose if it was a battery/alternator/starter issue and then replaced the battery for us. Had two different batteries replaced living in NOLA and at the autozone on Claiborne I’ve literally had them wheel out a random box of tools and them tell me to replace my own battery because they didn’t want to. And whoever was working would have no idea how to actually help you if you had questions diagnosing an issue.

Forget that the roads are all in great condition, I can send my kids to local schools, police/fire show up immediately if we need them and we don’t get random boil water advisory’s or flooding after heavy rains, it’s the basic services of places I go when I need something that make the biggest difference. It’s amazing what the quality of little things like that will do to make your life easier and enjoyable.


TL;DR if you want to move out of state, I would heavily consider it. I just can’t believe what I put up with for so long living in NOLA/BR.
