How could even Ole Miss do that at this point and based on what he's shown?

I heard Mike Detillier on the radio this morning. He is in love with Walker and said Walker wants to play in 2023, not be a backup.

Dart had a decent year in 2022, so unless Lame Kitten gave Walker some type of assurance that he'd get a very strong look at starting in 2023, I don't see him going there to be a pre-determined backup.

Lane Kiffin is going to be a royal pain in the arse with Walker Howard as his QB.

I think it is about 50/50 that Lane is still there when Howard becomes QB.

Why does everybody presume he’ll remain in the SEC?

Lot of people now think it is Ole Miss. It was TCU early on.

Ole Miss doesn't sound like a real great situation for WH to me.

I always thought a PAC-12 or Big-12 team is out there that has a mediocre starter, needs to train up a next level starter like WH for next year. Or perhaps a school already has a very high level starter at a PAC-12 school that WH could be an understudy (like USC, or Oregon).

Ole Miss/Jaxson Dart don't seem to be either one of those to me. And Lane Kiffin is ... he's a lot.

WH should just leave the SEC and get away from all the SEC drama/history.

They got to look at him each day in practice, he ran scout team, and looked lost when he came in to play.

This is just not true. And anyone close to the program will tell you how highly the entire staff thought of the player. What I will agree on is that I think who it says the most about is Nuss. I think Nuss impressed the Coaches and they are more comfortable with him than they anticipated and Nuss had solidified himself at this moment above Walker.

Ole miss doesn’t make a lot of sense to me

Florida makes more sense

The only thing I can guess is that Kiffin made him some promises

If Kiffen promised him the starting job over Dart then Kiffen should be fired on the spot. Dart was far from Ole Misss’s problem last year. Much of it was that fricking idiot Kiffen going for it on 4th when they were up to 20 yards away from the 50 yard line. Kiffen should never be in charge of making all decisions. He’s a frick up.

Not really- he knows if he goes at worse he’ll be QB2 and won’t be on the scout team - stays at LSU and he would still be QB3

It's like he prefers being seen as "edgy" and unconventional over just about anything else.

He must think he has a better chance of beating out Dart than Nussmeier and Daniels this season and/or better chance of beating out Dart than Nuss next year.

He isn’t currently better than any of those QBs and it’s not even close. FACT

Florida sounds like there's lotsa problems surrounding the program. But, if the desire is to start next season -- agree, seems WH could start there sooner and easier than at Ole Miss.

So weird. The Howard family has a large presence in Mississippi, but they are mostly Mississippi State alums.

That being said, a nice NIL deal and a chance to slay all that Ole Miss talent would be a difficult offer to pass up.

Is "run scout team" enough to prepare a young QB for real game play?

It's running the opponents offense each week to prepare our defense. He would still get reps as the 3rd string would in our offense and do the typical drills the first & second string do. His game prep would not be as much bc he is the scout qb and also was redshirting anyway. He has learned the LSU offense. Even running scout team gets him reps as opposed to getting 3rd string reps during game weeks.

Absolutely. This is everything about BK choosing Nuss over Howard because it's a pretty clear sign BK thinks Nuss is the future of the program.

Dart was pretty solid this year, is Ole Miss really looking to replace him for next year?

You must have missed their last 6 games. He is erratic and limited as a passer. There’s a reason they flipped from one of the leading passing offenses in the FBS to a mediocre passing team with a top rushing attack.

That said, he’s got a year in the system and 2 1/2 years of starting experience.
