Let's see what we end up with picks for him. If we somehow end up with a franchise qb, I will cheer for Sean

I can see him backing out a deal Saints make if the other team gives up too much by his standards….

Yes he doesn’t want to be here. What’s more boo worthy?

I don't think so. I mean, this guy came here in 2006 and brought Brees in, BUT had little else to work with.

He turned this franchise around after years and years of despair. He stayed after 3 7-9 seasons WITH Brees.

I mean we had 37 wins from 2009 to 2011 under him. Prior to his arrival, it took almost 5 seasons to reach that may wins. (2001-2005). Hell, it took 10 seasons from the start of the Saints' franchise to get 36 wins.

He was probably burnt out as well. Imagine feeling the way fans did (but as a coach x1000) after the Minn. miracle, the loss to SF, the loss to Minn @ home, the no-call Rams game, the Beast-quake Seattle loss, and losing to Tampa after beating them easily in the reg. season.

16 years as a head coach, and as much success as we had under him, I wouldn't boo him.

To be fair, he was looking at moving on when the team was the best it ever was under him (aside from the SB), reportedly.

I don’t really blame him one bit for wanting to get the hell out of New Orleans.

Appreciate all he did, but yes boo him. And if he goes to Carolina throw beer and chili dogs at him. That’s almost as bad as going to Atlanta.

There are a few reasons im booing him. One, it feels like every few months we find out a new team he was flirting with. He apparently spent years trying to quit on this team. Even when Brees was still an all pro.

Second, he built the team that he quit on. He wasn't some placeholder coach that just showed up to work to coach the guys that the front office gave him.

He controlled all aspects of the franchise. Signings, trades, drafts, training camp locations, all the way down to designing the new helmets.

So it makes it even worse that he'd quit when things got rough, when he built it.

Shows how smart Saints fans are. First they thought Jameis Winston could be a franchise QB. Now they are talking about booing the guy who brought a horrible franchise a superbowl.

If we get good compensation for him, definitely not. He led us to the best years in the history of the franchise.

he failed to draft a replacement for Brees.

Yeah, he wanted Mahommes but just not bad enough obviously.

Grateful for what he did but he had flaws too believe it or not. The way he gets promoted on TV now is good for us compensation wise, but he's gone, and he isn't coming back.

Not yet, but I don't like this business of Loomis discussing compensation with Payton. It should be Loomis and the team.

Yes to the original question. And he’ll return every year because he’s going to Carolina.

I think he decided he wanted his job back in New Orleans. That’s why there was this brief groundswell in the media that somehow Payton was gonna come back here. And I think someone with the Saints shot that down.

Now all of a sudden, the Panthers are in the picture. They’ve already interviewed Vic Fangio for DC, and that’s who Payton has mentioned as his preferred DC. They’re also the last interview he’s scheduled. I think Payton wants to go to Carolina and play the Saints twice a year and stick it up their asses for not letting him come back here.

And I say bring it, motherfricker.
