If you want to go to a casual place, go to Tune Inn on Pennsylvania Ave. The name is corny, but the food and atmosphere are good.If you want to go more upscale, Martin's Tavern in Georgetown is good.

Here are my DC restaurant recs-

Blue Duck Tavern is very good

Old Ebbitt Grill is an old historic place with good food and a fun bar.

Central on Pennsylvania Avenue is also good.

D C has great ethnic restaurants
My favorites are
Rasika for Indian food
Zaytinya for Mediterranean food
Tosca for Italian food.

We stay at the Willard which is a block from the White House.
All of these places with the exception of Blue Duck Tavern are within easy walking distance from there.

Did you work for Optum or The Advisory Board? These are my old haunts as a DC consultant. Pics are spot on!

What type of food do you like?

Two that are locally owned that offer great food is Maydan (a personal favorite) and Compass Rose

Bresca. Had dinner there a couple of times. They used to do an all duck menu that had to be ordered in advance. It was one of the best meals I've ever had and I don't really even like duck.
