IMO the SEC needs to stop this. Nothing sucks more than losing a kid to another SEC school due to tampering (which we all know goes down). I understand that if an athlete wants to transfer, but you shouldn’t be able to skip around in conference. Rambling done… for now.

with NIL now the insta play transfer needs to be done away with. If you want to transfer you need to sit out a year like it use to be...

Man if we didn’t have Wingo this last season, we would have struggled mightily.

I think this is actually a good rule.

Wingo worked out for us & so did the 2 Arky db's, but I think this would be good for the conference in the long run.

I think they should add another layer to it. If you take a intraconference transfer, you lose a scholarship for every year the player is on roster.

Did you post this when we got Denver Harris? Even though we lose Tolan, the portal has been our saving grace

It sucks, but LSU has been the beneficiary of it (where would the 22 team have been without Wingo and Brooks?).

I don't see things changing anytime soon.

LSU has 3 transfers from other SEC schools

Denver Harris from A&M
Aaron Anderson from Alabama
Jalen Lee from Florida

2 transfers to other schools

Radar Jones to Miss State
Demario Tolan to Auburn

Honestly think LSU is winning in this.

Limiting intraconference transfers would just mean more players transferring out of the SEC. The conference does not want that.

The SEC has no interest in stopping the intraconference transfers. If they shut them down then a majority of that talent will transfer out of conference, boosting those teams while leaving the SEC weaker.

Make the transfer window to one day or a weekend (the weekend after the NCG), in which the player has to announce during that brief time and then the pool is then set for the schools to recruit the transfers and have them officially sign on the second signing date in February. The only exception will be with a coaching change.

At least this would provide the school with sort of a protection on roster management so that they can fill needed spots lost to the portal.

Tired of these whiny threads about the transfer portal. LSU is on the top of the food chain and they benefit from this more than other schools. Its time to adjust your own mindset and adjust to change.

I'm fine with giving 1 free transfer to wherever, but if you want to transfer again you have to sit out unless you have degree. At some point college athletics needs to be about college somewhat. None of these guys going to 3 different schools in 3 years is progressing academically right unless they get a degree between there.

I'll never understand how we went so quickly from sit out a year unless grad transfer to 1 free transfer "due to covid" to "fk it, you want 5 schools in 5 years, go for it"

I think there should be a three year commitment…otherwise transfer with a 1 year penalty.

lol LSU has gotten, Mekhi Wingo, Joe Foucha, Greg Brooks, Denver Harris, and Aaron Anderson in the portal just the last 2 years.

LSU isn't like other lower tier schools. Unless kids aren't getting playtime or being a detriment to the team (aka Eli Ricks), LSU won't be losing star players. Losing Tolan sucks, but Mizzu lost guys like Lovett at WR this year and Wingo at DT last year. Unless you're being caring for the whole SEC, I don't see why you'd want to change it. LSU will come out the winner more times than not.

As long as a school can replace players and bring in enough to have a full 85 man Roster I do not have a problem with any kid transferring.

If it ever gets to the point that a school can only bring in a set number (25) regardless of the number of players who choose to leave then that would be very difficult to support.

Why? So we can make TCU the new Georgia right beside us? frick that. All you'd be doing is sending the best conference's players off to schools like Ohio State, TCU, etc. making their conferences better. Don't like it? Bid more. Be happy you root for LSU and not someone else because we're in better position than most.

I somewhat agree. Buy I think it should be across the board with the NCAA D1. If it's only the SEC that puts this rule back in place, then many guys will simply leave and go to schools outside of the SEC. That only serves to weaken the conference. IMO, that's why I don't believe it will happen until the entire NCAA does it.
