Sorry I duplicated the thread. I guess doubling up on some good news isn’t all that bad

Was this shooting justified?

"I can point you exactly where it is in the law, 9.31 and 9.32 of the penal code," said Nathan Beedle with the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
Beedle says Texas law outlines specific instances pertaining to robbery by threat, or aggravated robbery, where deadly force is presumed justified.
"Whether someone uses deadly force in the situation, that is presumed to be correct under Texas law," Beedle said.

So he abandons that pos truck. He’s out what, $1000? That’s cheaper than engaging the HPD.

Ashli Babbitt was shot as a threat and she didn’t have a gun.

You need to grab a dictionary and look up the word flee.

Old baw hardly fled the scene. Hero took the time to get everyone there money back and from what the video indicates casually gets in his pickup and rides off.

In Texas you can use deadly force to get your stolen property back. If you have permission you can use deadly force to get your neighbor’s property back. Look up Joe Horn.

Not guilty.

Hope so. If I did that where I live, I think that's the case. If I did that in Jackson (where I would never be at 11:30 at night; much less eating), I'm not so sure.

I can read his mind and he expected the perp to turn around. And that's all it takes in Texas.

Which I love because the good guy returned the money and wallets to the other victims.

I'd donate to paint the guy's truck.

And I must add that that used to be a decent part of town.

That guy sitting across from the shooter never blinks an eye during the whole ordeal.

Why would he? Sometimes, psychology is like physics. A chain of events is in motion (armed robbery, friend with a gun across the table, clear shot to end the danger) and the outcome is pretty much a given, like rolling a ball down a hill - it will end up at the bottom. No surprises here.

This clip shows him giving the money back, with the body blurred out. Doesn't change anything of course. Just more info.

Come on, Texas. Do what you do and make this dude the hero he is.

That'll be the doing of the jury at his trial when he does come forward. A "Not Guilty" verdict will grant him a meet and greet with Gov. Hot Wheels.

I want to see a video of the guy getting shot.. Every one I have seen stops right before.

Keep an eye on the Active Self Protection channel on YT. I suspect he'll have it at some point. Just have to get through a couple minutes of him hawking his wares first. Generally good channel. Donut might get it eventually too.

The fleeing is what will get him charged. You can’t kill a guy and then flee before the cops get there and expect nothing to happen.

You do if you’re trying to minimize any risk of future violence. Why would he conclude the robber was acting alone and there are no additional threats who will enter and retaliate.

Sometimes, you need to take the upper hand and remove yourself from a bad situation before the unknowns become knowns without options to flee later.

I say good call for him to remove himself from the scene. He’ll turn himself in.

Haha. This is what your democratic thug bitches gets! Don’t care if it was a toy. His intent was to threaten and he got clipped down. FH and FU if you defend this thug POS.

You’re leaving out very important information easily observed in the video.

The thug never reholsters. Instead, he points his gun at another customer as he walks past the hero. Hero has a clear view of the imminent threat to an innocent. He stops the threat, returns all stolen property to the rightful owners, probably recognized he became a potential target for increased violence and removed himself from the scene.

Build the statute.
