They have no balls. What do you expect them to do? Plus, all their “Brother!” dialogue would get tiresome.

an Inquisitor

Yes, normal (for the most part) human would be the way to go. Kinda what I meant about a Guard story.

40K is such a whacky setting that has, ahem, “borrowed ideas” from so many other IPs they came before them, but it works and is wide ranging. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the novels under their Warhammer Crime label. Low-powered humans doing everyday life in the Imperium.

To make this series work I think it needs to focus on an Inquisitor.

No can do, Inquisitor is too xenophobic and homicidal, anything else is misrepresenting them. Imperial guard aka Caliphais would be the best way. And you get eye candy in Inqusitor Val though...she might be gender bent to be black but its Amazon right?

Imperial guard is flexible cause they do feel fear, remorse, regret, and most importantly, cowardaince.

Interesting. I'd prefer they do Warhammer 30K/Horus and Cavill can be the Emperor of Mankind or one of Primarchs like Guilliman or Russ. Or I suppose he could be the ressurected Guilliman in 40k.

As probably the biggest 40k person on this site, I will say I don’t like the idea of them doing a live action show. I think it’d just be so hard to do

You could never have a primarch in a tv show and it not come across as silly. Their very presence molds the minds of people around them. You constantly have people talking of meeting primarch and saying it was the most remarkable thing of their lives.

Same reason this show is going to struggle nightly with chaos demons and such. A chaos demon will be melting reality around it in many ways. Hard to do that through a visual medium

Andor was boring as hell and nobody watched it
How do you know if it was boring, if you didn't watch it?

But no, Andor isn't a zap/pow action show, although plenty of people do get killed in it. Nor is it child-oriented. It's a thoughtful crime/espionage tale, with lots of intrigue and tension. And no Force users (which seemed to bother some factions). It's by far the most thoughtful show in the Star Wars IP, but it fits perfectly against the backdrop of Imperial authoritarianism and tyranny.
And the point being, it's 10x more well-written and acted than anything else Disney+ has put out. It shows how 'diversity' can be done right: you do get a strong female presence... a cold, cunning and ruthless woman who's the most dangerous and competent villain in the show. Because none of her strengths are unlikely- she's an ambitious count. Oh, and one of her rivals in the ISB is a black dude, who's also conniving and back-stabbing.
So the show runs counter to everything people bitch about Disney.

Amazon also gets bashed for being woke, and yet The Terminal List is basically everything the woke crowd hates.

Both shows are proof that tone and message comes from the showrunners, not the streaming service it's on.

If Cavill has control and wants to stay true to the story, it should be as good as his vision. Regardless of platform.

I mentioned wishing I could get an HBO or Netflix Highlander series recently. Cavill would be a good new take on the "MacLeod" character.

Get Momoa, Bautista or Hafþór Björnsson as the Kurgan for the 1st season's main villain.

So, ten hours, one sword fight?

I think this is going to be an inquisitor story. I know the Eisenhorn series has been in production hell for a while. Maybe this is the thing to break it out?

As much as I love the Space Marines, they make for dull characters. Of the inquisitors, Eisenhorn and Ravenor are the most interesting ones, in my opinion, and it won’t be Ravenor. So, Eisenhorn.

And we saw how that worked out for the Witcher.

Cavill signed on for the Witcher with the caveat that they had to respect the source material. He was betrayed by the showrunner and the writers, hence the reason he jumped ship. Him being Executive Producer ensures that the show will be made the way he wants it to be made: honoring the source material.

I know everyone hates Amazon but they also made The Boys... seems like it's more of who runs the production than anything

"Amazon"...

Henry better prepare to take a backseat to at least 1 woman who is the key to everything.

I know nothing of this franchise, but it doesn't matter. There'll be a female character, of color and likely a lesbian, who does it better than he does.

GW posted a Warhammer Community update this morning

Warhammer Community update

quote:

The agreement encompasses rights to the universe across series, film, and more, and will sit alongside GAW’s activities as they continue to make the best miniatures in the world.

This part concerns me a little.

quote:

Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is set to star in and executive produce the Warhammer 40,000 franchise across all Amazon Studios productions.

This eases some of my concern. I wonder if this makes him the Kevin Feige or James Gunn of the Warhammer Universe

No, race doesn’t matter in the imperium. They will treat you horribly any chance they get. They are theological fascists and bigoted towards anything that isn’t human and hugely into genocide though.

As GW keeps having to remind people, the Imperium is evil. Not all the people in it are. We usually follow those people who try to do good within the big evil institutions of the imperium

This is why I hope they start with something like Eisenhorn. You get to see how vicious the universe is from the eyes of someone who, when starting out, was trying to do good. Then you get the real Warhammer experience as you watch him compromise his soul little by little trying to do what he thinks is right.

Well that sounds very promising. I know only very surface level stuff about Warhammer, but I'm sure it can be great if they stick to the source material.
