And we saw how that worked out for the Witcher.

I’m sad about it, but he walked when they strayed too much.

What that does tell you is the the showrunners cared more about their opinions/politics than money and/or a good product.

"Rad" is a word from the 80's, so yes, you've got me pegged for sure. I'm actually seven.

Where would one start to get acquainted with Warhammer?

Didn't they have a Warhammer mmorpg that bombed about 10 years ago? I know they've put out some successful games, but this was an mmorpg.

That was a Warhammer Fantasy MMORPG, not a Warhammer 40k game. Medieval setting. 40k is dark future setting.

I actually played that game when it came out… around 2007ish. I liked it, but it was heavily dependent on player vs. player. Interestingly, it would probably work better as a console game now than a PC game back then.

Nice. I recalled it vaguely though I do remember pvp being a major thing about it. Too much so, not enough pve balance.

There are 3 properties in Warhammer. I believe the MMORPG was warhammer fantasy

Warhammer Famtasy - very traditional fantasy settings
Warhammer 40k - space sci fi fantasy
Age of Sigmar - roided out fantasy with most tropes turned in their head. I.E. many dwarves live in sky cities, there’s a faction of elves that go around stealing souls on the back of sharks, etc.

This is a setting where a main protagonist in a major book series recently opined “it ducks torturing innocent men women and children to death. I’m a psyker so I feel all their pain and confusion and it makes me feel bad. But that’s my job so what can I do.”

At the end of the day, GW is a minis company. Everything else they do is secondary and in support of bribing people into the miniature hobby whether that is the games or books or now tv shows. They will go with a show that will bring as many people into the hobby as possible. What that is is hard to say.

Maybe a rogue trader series?

They’re not going to get new fans by opening up on a death guard walking around with little nurgling using their guts as jump ropes

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

I played the hell out of this back in the day. It was entirely too dependent on PvP, and suffered the same problems that current MMOs are, namely the migrating to servers where one faction far outnumbers another so that players can steamroll without consequences. That ended up killing what was probably the best PvP MMO ever made, because the PvE side was not balanced or fleshed out well enough to overcome the issues on the player side.
