Richland Parish, old pasture and hardwoods. Sitting in a makeshift blind on the ground with my youngest.

6.5 Grendel, hot as balls, occasional puff of wind.

Saw one in the pasture behind us earlier making for the tree line.

Probably busted us but I don’t know how. Lol

Area 2
North Bossier Parish
Recently thinned pine stand where I killed an 8 point on opening day.
7mm-08
66 degrees.

Deer sightings are almost non-existent

Still had acorns falling this week. Biggest crop I have ever seen. Most hunters reporting corn is molding on the ground.

Had a big 10 pt on camera twice in one day on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Barely any signs of deer since then.

Area 2
Vernon Parish
Box Stand looking down at a creek bottom with a .270
Dense fog but lifting.

Saw a doe when I pulled in the gate about 5:30. And 2 other does crossed my shooting lane right at day break. I only saw them because they were about 25 yards from me.

Cloudy and warm.
12 gauge Marlin Model 55 “Original Goose Gun” 36” barrel with #4 Buck

My prediction is that they’ll be moving this morning. Specially with a pack of Beagles behind em.

Good luck guys!

We in same vicinity and same here. They shut it down this past week. Maybe the cold front this week gets them moving again

I haven’t seen anything in 2 weeks and I usually see at least 1 every time I go. I’m seriously considering walking back to the truck and taking a nap just so I can be comfortable.

I hope so. Activity has been way down here since Thanksgiving. I generally see deer every hunt and I think I’ve seen 3 since then. Not much on cameras either.

First weekend of the season I’m not in a tree somewhere.

Like others, deer activity has been almost non existent on cameras and last weekend.

I figured it couldn’t hurt to give the deer and myself a rest for a weekend (especially with this shitty weather) and hit them hard next week after the front.

Good luck boys

Went Squirrel hunting in the Homochitto. Shot 3, filled my pack with oyster mushrooms and a big lions mane. Drinking a beer in Natchez now.

Had some dogs get on my uncles land one time. Shot a deer in front of em and the dog runners had the nerve to be waiting at the gate to ask for meat.

Wish we would have had some this morning,, woods are dead no movement at any plots or feeders even at night they not hitting anything. Woods are still green with briars and acorns are still getting worked over. Drinking beer or the porch so all is not lost but not optimistic for this evening.
