Are you wanting acreage?

It seems so many people these days are wanting acreage. But why? Why would you need something else to take care of? Let alone the expenses of taxes, insurance, and upkeep.

Obviously you have never had acreage

Some of us are not lazy and value space
Plus land is probably the most stable investment you can make

Some people enjoy taking care of land. I would think it's likely in our DNA like hunting.

Go hike into the middle of the woods and then light up a fatty. It's the quickest way to understand.

Just got back a week ago and we went a whole week straight without seeing another soul except for one trip to the grocery. Just snow covered mountains. Property is awesome.

I want a stock pond surrounding my house

Some of us are tired of taking an outboard to a mud motor and another 20 minute drive to get to the blind. Some of us are also tired of tripping on cypress and gumbo mud in the dark trying to get to a spot at 4 am when half the town slept in their truck at the check in line the night before.
Why wouldn't you want land though? In all seriousness, even if you don't hunt or fish or whatever you have privacy and tranquility away from tons of neighbors.
ETA: like the post above, you can make your own food plots, duck holes, fishing ponds, etc. If you're into off road stuff you can make a trail of mud holes. If bird watching is your thing, you can even do that. Planting trees, gardens, or just watching the fruits of your labor over the years of taking care of it. Endless possibilities..

Our new place is like this. Nestled in the back of 20 acres. I work from home, my wife is a stay at home mom. If we do not leave the property we won't even see another vehicle driving by much less a person.
I enjoy it.
I enjoy it.

I wouldn’t say I have ‘acreage’. We have 2 acres but behind us is wetland that can never be built on. I see these houses with 20’ of backyard and 12’ between them and their neighbors and I can’t fathom going back to that. Our closest neighbors are also about 300 yards away. Its quiet. It’s private. It’s glorious. And I can fully strip down in July after a mow and take a shower in the hose.

Why own land when you can own nothing and be happy, right?
