Yes I do.

My family has about 20k acres in deep brush country south texas. Not sure how much belongs to my grandfather and how much belongs to his sister. If I ever have the opportunity to inherit/purchase about 1k of that I will probably build a house and live out there. Only downside it is pretty far from jobs and good schools, so probably will have to commute to a slightly bigger town, work from home or start a business. Not sure what I will do about schools.

Other option is my grandfather has about 300 acres and it’s all his. It’s in live oak county Tx, which is a little more green, closer to the coast, more civilization. Wouldn’t mind building a house on that land.

It seems so many people these days are wanting acreage. But why? Why would you need something else to take care of? Let alone the expenses of taxes, insurance, and upkeep.

This is the line of thinking, when applied in total, that allows a man to rationalize he is smart rather than admitting his true lazy and worthless self.

I own and live on 140 acres out of 300 acre family estate. It’s a pain in the arse in some ways, especially since hurricane Laura.I’ve still dealing with trees and limbs falling.
On the other hand we lived in a subdivision before moving here and I enjoy not having to deal with obnoxious neighbors.

It depends.
10-250, no thanks. Taxes and little to no economic use. Plus you’re probably only getting surface rights.

250-1000, maybe. As long as I can get mineral rights, has reasonable hunting and grazing for leasing out.

1000+, yep. As long as it’s not useless and has full rights.

There is such a thing as recreation. Just enjoying the outdoors.

I only have 6 acres but most of it is wooded so I only cut about an 1-1/2 acres. No neighbors up my arse, no HOA no BS to put up with from anyone. Wish I had more land. Highly recommend.

Parts of Anna are growing like crazy but I live near van Alstyne and there is not anything growing where I’m at.
Neighbors have the 10 acres behind us and I’m setting myself up to purchase it from them.

Why do you care? Let me guess, if it’s not your opinion, it’s wrong.

That’s nice - my dad loved Kenedy (which is not live oak county) - it’s nice around there

I’ve never been able to convince my husband to move to Texas

I don’t disagree. Less than 250 just seems like too much hassle/expense and not enough enjoyment.

Never said it was cheap. But when you’re looking at large piece of land you have to look at the long term potential of the investment.

Own 50+ acres here in North Alabama, Full of Deer, Turkeys,Ducks and other animals with a pond and creek.

Keeping up keep can be a pain in the arse, but i like to bush hog, and enjoy walking the land. Taxes on the land is not that
bad, and unless you're living next to a Volcano they not making any new land.

We have 100 acres we bought last year.
Not much better for the mind than riding in a tractor running a bush hog.

Some people enjoy taking care of land. I would think it's likely in our DNA like hunting.
