re: Bad feeling it comes down to committee picking 11-2 LSU or 11-1 Georgia if we win out

LSU will make the playoffs if we win the SEC Championship
Assuming a win against TAMU, this is correct.

One thing to factor in. Does Tennessee beat Vandy without hooker? If Tennessee loses winning out might not help

One of Ohio State/Michigan drops with a L this weekend. With a W on Saturday that should put LSU at worst at 4-5 heading into the SECCG. Some of you are suggesting we would just…not move, or go down even, after beating the unbeaten defending national champs? I just cannot buy that.
Let’s say it looks like this going in:
1. UGA
2. OSU/UM
3. TCU
4. USC
5. LSU
6. Clemson
If we win, UGA’s best wins would be Oregon/Tennessee. Ours would be Alabama/UGA themselves, both likely still top 8 teams. AND we’d have the same conference record but LSU would have a conference championship. We’d also have the better 3rd win. One resume is clearly better here despite a 1-point loss on a missed XP in week 1.
There is no way in hell that, assuming the others win out too, the committee could justify UGA in over LSU. Particularly if we win convincingly. I feel like they’d be the one left out honestly. We’ve seen it before, WHEN you lose is a big factor.

zero historical precedent to suggest that's true.
Oklahoma 2003. They, like UGA, were heads and tails above everyone on the regular season.
That was BCS my dude. Oklahoma was ranked #3 by the human element but was #1 in the computer polls. We don’t use computer polls anymore.
So, NO. Still zero historical precedent.

my opinion, if Lsu beats Georgia you cannot leave them out. They value conference championships.

LSU’s resume isn’t good. Tennessee is imploding, and the Ole Miss win has lost its luster. Plus losing to FSU and struggling with B tier teams? They’d need divine intervention to get in even if they sneak by Georgia.

It depends on the score. If it’s a close battle they may keep one of them in the top 4

I would hope they understand that the SEC Championship is several orders of magnitude more difficult to win - sometimes moreso than the Natty.

Lot of wishing and hoping and trying to convince yourselves going on in here.

How much wishing and hoping did you do the previous 41 years?

Come on man, it’s very simple, LSU beats Georgia, they’re both in, LSU at 3, Georgia at 4. Michigan/Ohio State winner and TCU.
I've spent less than five minutes thinking on this, but this is pretty obvious the most logical outcome - not worth the effort evaluating all the alternatives.

Why are you people that say LSU is a lock if they win out?
IF!!! they do. They will be the weakest team in there and look like Oklahoma when Oklahoma gets in.

You're right. And it is also the only time a 2 loss conference champion was in position to be selected. The committee chose instead for a 1 loss team that didn't even play in the conference championship game.
There have been plenty of 2-loss champions, so I’m not quite sure what you mean by the only time. If you look at the selections, it’s clear that both W-L record and conference championships have weight. 1-loss non-champs have made the CFP ahead of 2-loss champions, but never ahead of 1-loss champions. In 2014 Ohio St was given preference over TCU because they had a CCG. In 2015 conference champ Michigan St got in over non-champ Ohio St. 1-loss A&M and 1-loss ND were passed over the last two seasons as non-champs. There’s never been a circumstance exactly like what would happen if LSU beats Georgia in the SECCG to know for sure which would carry the greater weight in this case.

The committee pretty much told LSU last night with the #5 ranking that they're in if they win out. If it were that questionable, they would've jumped USC to #5.

IF they beat Georgia in the SECCG, they are most definitely NOT a weak team and are certainly capable of beating anyone. Your argument really is that LSU isn’t strong enough to beat Georgia.

Penn State got jobbed because the focus groups said more eyes would be on tOSU. That’s it.

UGA only significant win is over Tenn.
no contest.
