The sad part is that it could be prime real estate. The location is great. Someone rich should buy it all and bulldoze it. Make it a mixed use type of development
The slum lords who own those buildings aren’t letting go of that cash cow. Government checks don’t bounce. It would require someone to pay way over market to get them and I don’t see anyone in BR doing that.

Save us Todd Graves. You might not have gone to LSU but LSU made you

I’m looking forward to when they do. I know it’s going to be chaos but it will happen eventually. Better to happen now while my aim is still true.

As someone who used to have a complex that we ended up turning sec 8, in north br not tiger land, I can say it beats the hell out of hounding people for rent money and has guaranteed rent increases. As long as you do minimum maintenance it’s a goldmine.
We ended up selling it for at least 1/3 more than it would have had it not been sec 8.
Sec 8 is a godsend for complex owners whose properties get absorbed into the hood.
I doubt any of the owners would sell unless the offer was really good. Hard to turn down that govt auto deposit every month.

Why does the State or Federal Government (who funds this crap) allow this to be so close to a major Flagship University?

It used to be a great place for a frat fight. GDI's and other undesirables have taken over.

I mean this in all seriousness, frick you!! People like you are the reason this city is in its demise. Selling out to section 8 guarantees crime, drugs, and lawlessness and drives down the value of anything within a 5 square mile radius all so you can make minimal extra money.

Is it true that the complex once known as “the cottages” is also run down and section 8?
Not if you are referring to The Cottages on Ben Hur. Not run down nor section 8.

Got lots of pussy in sharlo townhomes back in the day

Exactly. Dumb arse bought a complex they knew was in the ghetto then sold out the entire area around them by selling out to the government to salvage their mistake. frick anyone with this guys mindset

Such a shame. I lived in Brightside in the late 80s. Mike Papajohn (or his friends) lived there as well. We could walk to the Circle K past Sharlo and grab some beers. Guess you can’t do that now.

Tigerland became section 8.
Section 8 has to be the most insidious mechanism of spreading the cancer of cultural blight to once decent areas

Then maybe there needs to not be a slum to lord over.

But they just got a brand new bridge. That’s gotta count for something.

Well, at least you benefitted
Thank you for selling out and becoming dependent on Government.

Made the drunk walk home from Tigerland to Brightside down Alvin Dark many a time in 2007-2008. Robberies were definitely starting to pick up during that time but I was pretty lucky looking back on it. Couldn’t pay me a million bucks to chance that again. Was back in town for the game this weekend and was impressed with what they’ve built up around the old Alex Box but yeah Tigerland is still a shitshow and so depressing looking. Ivars new renovation in the back was awesome though and was cool stopping by Bogies for a shot, but the crowd wasn’t frat at all. What has happened to my LSU??
