Was in town this weekend with a few VOL friends and we went by Fred’s to see my old stomping grounds. It was so sad to see how badly run down that area has become. I knew it was happening and had heard about it…… but nothing could have prepared me for seeing that. It literally looks like a dump. When did this happen??

After Katrina.

The Geaux Zone started the trend of building luxury apartments (b/c of the massive deductions you could take immediately).

Then to counter the outflux, Tigerland became section 8. It went downhill fast while I was in law school (2005-2008).

Tigerland was always kind of a dump but it really turned into a Section 8 shithole in the 00-05 time frame

I lived in Tiger Plaza in the mid-90s, so it always felt like a dump to me.

One used to be able to get decent coke out of their 20 years ago, or so I’m told.

What do you think is going to happen to Burbank? The same as Tigerland.

The sad part is that it could be prime real estate. The location is great. Someone rich should buy it all and bulldoze it. Make it a mixed use type of development

The whole Sharlo complex is Section 8.
This is what you get when you support people cradle to grave.

Yeah it would be called racist. How dare you not want murders and carjackings right at the edge of your flagship state university

That entire area including all the shitty housing on Alvin Dark needs to be demolished.

I lived in Sharlo apartments for one semester...brown wood exterior...is it really Section 8 now?

Is it true that the complex once known as “the cottages” is also run down and section 8?

That was THE place to be during my final two years at lsu (2011/2012)
