Anyone aware of common issues with 19-21 F150s with the 5.0 10 speed?

Getting rid of my junk of a GM, the 5.0 is the most reliable V8 on the market outside of the Tundras. So far the 10 speed seems to have good reviews.

We had a 19 with 5.0
No issues for the 42k miles that we owned it.

The older the powertrain, the better it will be. Whether Ford or Ferrari.

Can’t vouch for the transmission but that motor is solid (with proper upkeep).

I put 50k+ in about 18 months on my 2019 with the 5.0 and never had an issue. Loved that truck.

GM 3.0 diesel is the engine to get.

Don't know why the V8s have so many problems. The performance cars ( Cadillac Blackwing, Camaro, Corvette) do not suffer from the widespread lifter issues the truck engines do.

5.0 is a great engine especially with boost.

Well they’re all Fords so they have that going against them.

I have a 2020 F150 5.0. On May 5th of this year (57.000 miles) 7th gear constantly jerked. Took it to Robinson Bros Ford Baton Rouge and didn’t get my truck back until Aug 16. Mechanics ordered parts for transmission and still couldn’t get it to work properly so they ended up replacing the entire transmission. They never had a loaner available so they said for 3 1/2 months so I spent over $6500 on a truck rental from Enterprise.

You can google The 2019-22 F150 5.0 10 speed transmission issues and find a lot of issues with it.

I’m genuinely surprised with the 2.7 eco I have married to the 6 speed. Solid set up with the power I need. Boat iced down and full of fuel is 4K and I don’t even feel it back there. It’s the heaviest thing I will haul and after 70k miles, I am satisfied.

My dad has that truck and I really like it. The only thing he’s had to do is get the touch screen replaced. It rides better than my 5.7 Tundra, has better features, and has better acceleration. I also like the different drive modes you can use. It was a close second when I was searching a few months ago

Is there an option to get the 6 speed anymore? The last gen Ford 6 speeds were fantastic.

What about the rams? As far as I know the 5.7's are great.

The 10 speed transmission was co-developed by Ford and GM. You are not escaping any GM woes by going this route. Buy the damn Tundra, and be done with it.

Cant speak for the 21-23 but the 5.0 in the 15-20s are tanks, first hand experience with the 18-20's. I love Fords but I do think I remember some quality control issues with the new body style updates in the 21-22 f150s outside of the engine but idk surely they fixed that with 23.

As for 19-20 you should be good.

Never had problems with the 10 speed, I think you can still find the 5.0 in 6 speed for 18 and/or 19 but I may be wrong.

2016 Ram 1500 5.7 170k no issues besides a radiator stress crack.

Two other good buddies with same engine are at 130 & 100 with no issues.

RAMs are better trucks than they used to be.

Plastic oil plug will leak like a sieve. We had that happen on one of our company trucks. 2019 I think. Mine is a 16 and had been a good truck save a few idling issues. Hit 206k on it this week.

I have a ‘19 with right at 180k miles. It’s a 40 mile commute to the farm and then it spends all day on a farm.

Very little problems with the life it has.

My biggest issue has been headlights. I’ve replaced both head lights and both fog lights.

I've seen some of your posts on the OB about your truck. Too expensive to fix?

I have a 2017 f150 3.5 ecoboost with the 10 speed transmission with 68k miles. The 10 speed trans gave me problems after I bought it used in 2018. Ford finally figured out a trans module upgrade that kept it from doing crazy bad shifting patterns. I tow with it and have not had engine or trans problems since the trans update a couple of years ago.
