A friend of my wife from college was recently diagnosis with stage 3 brain cancer.

You ain't lying. We were always broke but we partied every weekend and got to go to the beach a couple times per year. My bills were like 300 a month because 7 of us lived in a 4 bedroom house.

Just found out that a cousin's husband just dropped dead.. He was 53 and they have 3 kids the youngest is 12. Don't know if he had any health problems but from what I have heard it was out of the blue.

July 2021 when I was taken out of sedation after 10 days on a respirator following emergency open heart surgery.

I'm 35 and it already blows my fcking MIND that I graduated high school 17 years ago. It only made me realize that I wasted so many good years on a shitty girlfriend, years that I could've been doing much better things with my life.
I didn't get married until I was 32, and I would highly suggest that part of my life to any young guy now. Just don't waste your 20s with a woman you know you'll never marry and makes your life miserable. Live it up being single in your 20s instead

Just lost a friend this January. He was 101.
He was at Pearl Harbor and flew with my Dad in the Pacific. He still flew bi-planes, drove his car, and had Happy Hour on Friday nights.
When asked his secret to living so long he would advise: "Don't die."

When my sister got killed by a drunk driver when she was 20 and I was 12, her best friend's little brother who was my friend was killed by a drunk driver the following year, then 3 years later my dad died at 62 (yes I was an accident)
Now in my late 30's and realize that I'm probably more than halfway to a natural death. I would like to hang around long enough to see all of the milestones in my kids' lives without being a burden to them

I'm not sad about it. To this point I've done more with my life than most, less than others. I still have a long time, at least I think I do.
I have been involved with finance my entire career, and I have talked about and dealt with death a lot because of it. Something I'm comfortable talking about I guess.

I'm 44, was a medic for 10 years in my past life. Worked NO, Jackson, and Lafayette. Seen so many young people die from wrecks, overdoses, murders, suicides, etc. Saddest is young kids with cancer, or young people in general. Working that career made me numb to death around me, even people close to me. I realized back then how quick life can go.

Guy, we all miss those summers when we were 18, 19, and 21. If you went to college out of state, you missed out on your girlfriend or your social circle. I’m talking late 1980’s when iPhones and texting and sexting were not around. No emails either.
When I got back to Texas to see my college girlfriend, being with her that first night back was heaven .
Now, I am a single middle aged man who has to take nugenix just to keep up.
I tell my twenty something colleagues to enjoy being in your twenties ! You are young and naive a bit but always savor life and your physical fitness at your age. Be careful who you frick but enjoy sex and the innocence. In ten years, you finally realize that the years goes by quickly.
When I got back to Texas to see my college girlfriend, being with her that first night back was heaven .

No indeed not! I’m 60, and other than getting a longer runway, I would not trade a week of now for a week of any other part of my life (excluding things like the week I first got laid or had my first child). And surveys consistently show the happiest demographic to be people in their 60s and 70s.
