The movie is a romantic comedy about homosexuals.

And from the writer:

quote:

“That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately,” Eichner continued on Twitter. “Even with glowing reviews and great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc., straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for ‘Bros.’ And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.”

quote:

Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see ‘Bros’ tonight! You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much.”

You see, it probably is a decent movie. However, the way they market this stuff is just silly. We saw that same thing with that Elizabeth Banks Charlies Angels movie.

What different things some people do with their genitalia is not "powerful". I mean, there are people who get off on people in mascot costumes, but it's not "powerful".

Band of Brothers was "powerful". This is just a gay movie and the market is flooded with it right now.

i mean he's not wrong, in a sense. we choose not to spend our money on gay sex movies. however, upstream of THAT fault, lies a fault in whomever greenlit a gay sex movie expecting a bunch of straight guys to go watch it.

Heterosexual people don't want to sit in discomfort watching dudes talk about fricking each other.

That's not homophobia, that's reality

Kudos to the 11 “rotten” reviews so far. I’m sure they’ve been continually harassed since the time they reviewed it.

Meh. It looked like another stale left over Apatow comedy. The marketing team failed big time on that one

We called this early. It didn't fail because the movie sucked and had limited appeal to start with. No, you straight people are all bigots. Watch your propaganda.

Homosexual romance grosses me out. Hence I’m not fricking gay, hence I don’t want to see this movie. It’s not rocket appliances.

This ^^^^

He wrote a niche movie expecting a mainstream audience would want to see it.

I’m gay. I watch niche movies like this, but this one just looked like all of the others I’ve seen before. It offers nothing new in that genre even. I might watch it for free when it streams, but I’m not paying to go see it.

You said it more clearly than I did in my post above

Movies used to be made for everyone, despite less "diversity."

Now, creators go out of their way to TELL potential audience members that the movies are not made for them, and when they subsequently don't show up...they attempt to blame the people they told the movie wasn't for.

Flip side of that is Disney/Marvel taking IPs which used to be predominantly the pastime of straight white men, and taking it from them and aiming all new content at women and gay people...which has made straight white men walk away in droves and much like the WNBA which can't draw female crowd, the new preferred target demographic doesn't show up.

Hilarious.

I mentioned this yesterday in the other thread. Even the target audience didn't come out for this movie.

Looking forward to the fourth thread on this. This movie is enjoying the hell out of the free advertising on TigerDroppings.
