i mean to be fair the mother fricker is a realyl good and succcessful coach everywhere he goes. everyone said he would fail at minn especially after going 5-6 the 1st year. then after going 11-2 and 3-4 in the covid year everyone called him a 1 year wonder yet he followed that up with a 9-4 last year and is currently 4-0 with a great chance to win the division.

I hate Capri Man, and he seems to have toned down his personality a bit, but he is the best coach in the B1G west.

, if not him then Mark Stoops would be a real solid

Starting next year Stopps will be making $7.6 million, he's already passed Bear as UK's winningest coach with all the job security.

He would cost Auburn a fortune. More than Franklin or Tucker

They would be wise to throw everything at Aranda.

Why they hired McElwain 2.0 over the UAB guy is a great mystery.

Look at the contracts the last couple of years. The auburn coach is getting $8-10 million

Gus's final contract at AU was reportedly 7 years for $49 million total.

That's not twice $5.1 per year.

Weird hill to die on. Look at every marquis job, and some non marquis ones. Coaches are getting close to $10/year, and whoever lands at auburn will too.

Matt Campbell is a good enough coach that I think we'd be crazy not to make that gamble if he was interested.

I don't think he would be, he's turned down NFL gigs and seems intent on being patient to get the right fit. Perhaps that changes a little if it starts to look like the buzz factor at winning 8 games at ISU is going to fade.

The word is that we're better suited to go for bigger fish this time around if that's the decision (largely because it's expected there will be much better booster-President-AD alignment for this hire). So perhaps you at least test the waters with someone like Campbell just to see.

AU was paying the last guy roughly $7M a year.

They are paying the current guy roughly $5M a year.

Yet, I'm dying on a hill...

Okay.

Have a lovely evening.

Auburn, LSU, Florida, and A&M all have passionate fan bases that demand recruiting success as much as on field success and believe (right or wrong) that it is necessary to keep up with UGA and Bama. Someone like Rhule, Matt Campbell or Harsin or other program/culture builders will never have a chance.

Freeze could be Dabo for Auburn. Something tells me he may be satisfied at Liberty otherwise he’d been rumored for more jobs by now. 3 million a year with no pressure living in Southeast Virginia sounds alright to me.

These searches always end up crazier than people think. Who would’ve had Riley or Kelly switching jobs in September 2021?

Recruiting may be the most important part of the game. You obviously have to develop the players once they get to campus, but you don't even have a chance to compete if you never get the players on campus.

Im talking about winning championships. Matt Campbell is a perfect example. Every body loves the guy and raves about his coaching, and he is a great coach. He has one 9 win season

Recruiting is absolutely the most important part of the game. I was alluding more towards fans clamoring to win recruiting based on the website rankings. Outside of the obvious generational physical talent some 5 stars possess in those top 25-30 recruits, those sites and evaluations are given way too much attention by fan bases and how they perceive the potential of their team

No reason whatsoever Auburn shouldn’t be able to hire a sitting p5 coach, coordinators and g5 coaches are typically huge gambles.

Auburn COULD hire anybody they want. But I'd fully expect them to frick it all up and get someone like Steele.

Why not Brian Kelly? You said Auburn could hire anybody they want.

Combined factors of Woodward wanting a big, big name and wanting to have a clean break and reset from anything associated with Coach O. At least that is my guess. I would have been happy with Dave but ultimately a full reset was probably needed and he may have felt loyalty to the support staff and assistants who were here when he left.

Two things can happen this weekend:

1. The team knows he's dead, he knows he's dead, they practice flat all week, assistants are thinking about their next jobs, and they come out looking like shite and get demolished by a very pedestrian LSU team.

2. They rally behind Harsin and surprise everyone, including LSU, and win.

I think 75% chance of #1, 25% chance of #2.

If #1 occurs, Harsin might get Herm Edwards'ed on the field.
Logic dictates that scenario #1 is almost certain.

Scenario #2 is 100% going to happen. After last weeks game, I'm convinced that logic is completely out the window.

Any good HC in college football would be foolish to take
the AU job.The only way for that to happen is if AU agrees
to a enormis buyout for the new coach. The BOT on the plains
is their own worst enenmy, they have created this cluster
that is AU football.Yall could get lucky with someone like
Ruehle if he gets fired and needs a job.But anyone worth his
salt ain`t going to coach their.
