I can't believe no one is talking about it in the news, but every class 1 railroad is planning to go on strike at midnight on Thursday. If you think supply chain constrains were bad now, imagine where we will be this time next week when no trains are running.

If they form picketlines, the ILA and the Teamsters will respect those lines and you will see trucking and ports shutdown as well.

If you don’t talk about the problem, it doesn’t exist.

Aren't they not allowed to strike? There was a thread about this and people were saying the federal government would order them back to work immediately.

I am sure our transportation secretary is all over this train issue and there is absolutely nothing to worry about... Our benevolent overlords always have our best interests at heart...

If this affects Amtrak in the Northeast Corridor and in Chicago, the result for commuters could be chaotic.

Dems will resolve this by giving Ukraine another $40BB.

Congress will order them back to work.
Or at least that’s what I was told.

Havent felt any supply chain restraints . Boats for miles backed up off the coast garbage . Food plant explosions etc . Everything is more expensive but I havent found problems finding anything. Is this reality only found on social media ? Serious talk

I don't pretend to understand the mechanics or legal basis but apparently Congress can intervene and "prevent" the strike - and are planning to do so in order to save further damage to Biden's economy.

OT thread indicates that one union has a proposed settlement and Congress is trying to impose two more 30 day cool off periods before a strike.

The latter in particular suggests this won’t get fixed and the Dems want to drop this mess into the GOP’s lap.
