Salt raises blood pressure. No way. I like looking, being, and feeling healthy.

Grandpa probably wasn’t trying to account for mentally ill people like the OP who don’t want to taste food. They just want to taste salt. These are not picky eaters. This is why they tend to be obese.

Baw, this sounds like an addiction to be honest.

To answer your question, I season things appropriately before tasting it. Salt is part of the process, but I taste as I season. I add what I believe to be enough. I taste. I add more if needed.

I never add extra salt to food except fries

I don’t like food to be salty plus it’s bad for your blood pressure

I find it funny that this has been posted so many times. Putting salt in your food should have little effect on your blood pressure. The fact that so many of you are fat should be of much more concern.

I’ve become accustomed to salting some things, especially at restaurants that I know need it. Grits and salads for example.

If you’re into assuming, you might want to start with not assuming those people intend for their words to be taken literally.

Don’t you think they are probably suggesting to not add extra salt?

But to become a better cook, shouldn’t you taste first, then salt? This helps you understand ratios to achieve desired levels.

Extra table salt to enhance not change flavor has negligible impact to one’s overall salt/sodium consumption. I think that’s the point the poster is trying to make.

My father always told me something similar at the dinner table except it was Henry Ford who used it as a test on applicants for executive positions and if they salted before they tasted it meant that they were too impulsive to be good decision makers.

You should really get your thyroid levels checked. A lot of people that crave salt have something going on there.

I listed to a discussion with a food scientist that explained if you cut out salt for like 2-3 weeks, your taste buds will normalize and so much other food will taste so much better
