just because you wanted to get a look at nuss doesn't mean you hate daniels

our coach said it was real close competition. certainly no one was blaming daniels for the pass rush he faced. we had little success in the 1st half so it is not a stretch to want to see how Nuss could've handled things.

daniels will get better, and the oline will get better.

But fact is, no one knows who would do the better job at this point. coach has made his choice, and many, including myself, thought he made it when he brought daniels in from the portal. You have to admit that daniels skill set is different from all our other qb's and kelly likes that skill set.

we will probably never get to see nuss unless there is an injury to daniels. he likely won't get to play this year, which means he will transfer. there was no indication from coach that nuss might get to play in the second half against Southern.

like it or not.

I think what people are saying is that it’s like the sixth at best issue that this team faces currently.

I just don't understand when exactly people expected Daniels to get pulled and what the catalyst for him being benched would have been.

I mean, pull him after the 3 and out to start the second half after just 4 series? That's not nearly enough rope to give your starting QB, especially when 2 of the 4 drives should have been scoring drives.

He led TD drives on his next 3 drives. You going to pull him after one of those? No chance.

When do you think he should have been pulled? You think the starting qb with an entire new offensive line and system only deserves 4 drives before getting pulled?
What kind of coaching would that be?

QB names won’t stop a tRant melt. An L means that QB should be benched. Facts be damned.

That likely won't happen, but if so oh well, next man up.

This fanbase keeps wishcasting players to transfer. I don’t understand it.

The way Kelly was saying that both QBs were likely to play, I thought that might mean a couple of scripted series with Nuss at some point. I don't think it has anything to do with "pulling" Daniels, just seeing how they each perform. That is obviously not the case going forward.

Maybe the start of the fourth quarter when we had only scored 10 points.
Looking back, how many believed we would win the game starting the 4th quarter.

I agree... what I mean is, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's arse but I'd rather take the bull's word for it

When did Kelly say this?

I know people on the rant talked about this, but I never heard Kelly say anything along these lines. If he did, I missed it, which is definitely possible.

My assumption of Nuss playing was that he would be the backup and he'd play if/when we got big leads. I thought Kelly made it clear earlier in the offseason that he would prefer not to have to play 2 Qbs.

Its reasonable to want to see what you have in Nuss. And there are games for this....like this one. And if this offensive line improves then thats really a conversation between the two we need to have. In my opinion anyway.

Was this strictly on the qb who had horrendous protection? What does nuss bring to the table that would have been better than a qb that can run and gain yards when the pocket broke down? I don’t dislike nuss but I don’t think he would have fared any better.

If you like Daniels, why would you want to see the backup, in a game that’s not a blowout, a game in which the qb was not the problem? People want to see Nuss cause they want him to be the starting qb.

So, pull Daniels immediately after he led us on a TD drive and we were only down 7?

Uh...you thought a 7 point deficit was insurmountable?
