I don't think it has anything to do with "pulling" Daniels, just seeing how they each perform.

This. It’s not a matter of “pulling” or “benching”, just subbing in a different player for a series or two.

Keeps the defense guessing and in the portal era keeps both QBs happy.

Why are people so defensive of Daniels? You’d swear he was the greatest player LSU has ever had. He had an average at best game. He missed wide open receivers over and over. Yes he had pressure much like every other quarterback that played last weekend. He needs to learn how to throw with anticipation and read defenses pre snap. He also pulled the ball when he should have handed off several times. He was not our main problem but his position is the most important and I didn’t see anything from him that makes me think Nuss shouldn’t be given an opportunity as well.

Daniels has an obvious top end skill most QBs do not and that is his running ability. What he lacks is in the passing game, mainly he doesn’t see or like to throw and isn’t accurate between the hashes. Why drop him back to pass 50+ times is my question. We called 3 designed runs for him that went for 10, 9 and 2 yards, that’s a 7 ypc clip on called runs. Maybe the game plan was designed for both QBs to play but it looks like Daniels is the guy so let’s highlight his advantages and try to mask his deficiencies. We didn’t do that Sunday.

If he sees the field and throws the ball on time, he doesn't need to be athletic.
Who is more athletic, Tom Brady or Cam?

I agree we didn’t do that but our strength as a team is WR not QB. We should play the QB that can utilize our strength. That’s exactly what Brady said when got here. Daniels may still develop but at this point he’s a one read and run guy and you can tell watching him play that he would much rather run than throw.

I agree with you but the reality is Daniels will be the starter unless we continue to lose so since that’s the case let’s tailor the offense to his skill set. 76% of our plays were called for JD, his runs, including scrambles and sacks, went for over 7 yards per play, his passes went for 5.8 yards per play. Seems pretty obvious what we should be doing with him.

People aren't really being overly defensive about Daniels. They're just calling out idiots who keep spouting this nonsense about one read and run. It's been shown on rewatch to be false and keeps getting repeated ad nauseum.

It's also frustrating that some of our idiot fan base think you pull a QB after 3 or 4 series of his and the team's first game, two of which ended in the red zone.

I would be saying the same thing if Nussmeier had been named the starter if he had played like Daniels. There was simply no reasonable opportunity in that game for the backup QB to see action.

Like I said in the immediate transfer era you’ve gotta play at least two guys if you want to keep them.

The whole “if you have two you don’t have one” is a lazy antiquated idea - today’s coaching staffs with their endless analysts can incorporate more than one QB like they do with every other position.

Give each guy a first quarter series and ride the hot hand. Let each one know they’ll continue to get their chances, so it’s not like anyone is being benched long term.

There is not a doubt in my mind we will definitely get to see Nuss. No way in hell Daniels survives an SEC schedule if he continues to run the ball as much as he did game 1!! Only way he survives the full schedule is if he runs less.

Tom brady has never has an oline as bad as lsu's. Brady has, literally , always had good lines.

No they really cant. With limited practice times in cfb your qb 1 needs more practice reps than your backup.
Also, you wanna fracture a team, keep playing 2 qbs the entire season.

Does Nussmeier play on the left side of the line or return punts?

This is what really pissed me off saturday. We ran one screen play to take advantage of a dline that pinning its ears back everyplay. We didnt move the pocket much on plays. We also kept guys in to protect instead of spreading out the defense like every successful modern offense on the planet.

It just means you're not smart. You would have gotten a look at Nuss staring at the ceiling of the Superdome

I would almost guarantee you he plays this year, and it will likely happen this weekend.

But yet you compared him to Brandon Harris. They are not even close to comparable as far as skill sets.

Also didn’t you claim to have watched all of his games at ASU? And yet, you still compared him to Brandon Harris? I can only think of one “trait” they have in common.

People need to let go over their obsession with Nussmeier. Jayden is clearly the starter and will remain so for the rest of the season, barring injury.
