According to this board Myles Brennan is the best LSU QB ever because of a 3 game stretch against some conference bottom feeders in 2020

Replace Hodson with Mauck or Flynn

You obviously weren’t alive when Hodson played. He was light years better than the Matts.

2) JaMarcus - #1 pick
2A) Bert - different era and split time with Paul Lyons in Mac's 2QB system. Was good with the Colts as well.
3) Hodson - 4Y starter with 2 SECs.
4) Rohan or Mauck.

How?

Jamarcus had tremendous talent and is up there but his decision making wasn’t all that great.

You could say the same thing about Ro, and I love Ro. How is Ro’s decision making better when Jamarcus has him beat in comp% and TD - Int ratio?

[quote]He missed the pass happy era in the nfl as well and was with a horrible colts team

He threw for over 4,000 yards one season and the Colts had some pretty decent teams in the mid to late seventies.

Bert Jones 2

Jamarcus Russell 3

Tommy Hodson 4

Speaking of Bert Jones, check out today’s Dandy Don. In connection with countdown day 7, he posted an old interview with Jones. Well worth listening to for a half hour.

That Colts team was pretty dang good for a while and Jones was league MVP in 1976. They went 11-3 and then went 10-4 in 1977 and lost in OT to the Raiders. Game broke my heart!

Based on what? It was a different game back then but his stats are underwhelming

Come on bro, Jones was the NFL MVP. If you take out Tittle and Burrow, no one else from LSU is close.

Jones was more talented but Hodson was the better college QB. Set every SEC passing record while he was here.

Stats only tell part of the story. I love Jamarcus but he def wasn’t the smartest and would try and force things that weren’t there. Not saying Ro never made any bad decisions either. After watching them both I would have to give the upper hand to Ro. He led us to our first SEC title (yes Mauk came in and won the SECG) and Sugar bowl victory in decades. But that’s just my opinion. Maybe I’m a lil biased for Ro idk. Both were great and glad I was able to witness them play.

Bert Jones
Tommy Hodson
Last two are Y A/Jamarcus/Rohan

Young people don’t realize how good Jones was. Won MVP his second year in the league. Injuries killed his career. Belichick said he was the best pure passer he ever saw.

No doubt in my feeble mind that Bert Jones is #2. He was a my favorite pro QB when I was young. I didn’t grow up in Louisiana but I was sent there in 1979. I became a fan then.
Y.A. #3
Jamarcus #4
Matt Flynn #5
