Coming to the OB to try and find something different than what the vet has prescribed.
Tried Xanax, trazedone, and the thunder vest.
He’s had a rough month with all the thunderstorms recently.

Trazedone given before the storms or fireworks will knocked my dogs down

These work pretty well with my dogs.

If the dog is white it is likely to go deaf sooner. Good luck.

I’m careful with ACE
Partial dose knocked my Boxer on her arse for hours, eyes rolled back in her head & drunk walked but my moms small mutt has no issues with it
She’s older & her hearing is going so usually if I turn the volume up on the tv she doesn’t notice the thunder
If she were to start having issues again I’d try CBD treats before anything else

Our big tuff Doberman gets the weighted blanket and a prime spot in a king size bed. He actually will let you know 30 min before the storm is to hit.

our dogs take ACE(Acepromazine).
I used to give my old dog ace until I read it's pretty much just a chemical straight jacket and doesn't really calm their anxiety. Not sure how true it is. High dose of Trazedone if I knew it was going to storm did the trick.

The only dogs I know that have this condition are the ones whose owners let them live inside their house.

Well no shite.
If they outside in a storm how you gonna know that shitting on themselves.

Someone told me that this weekend, I almost brought it up but wasn’t sure if true or not

I used to have a dog like this and we tried valerian but did nothing; benedryl worked great though. I'd try CBD but our current dogs aren't bothered by storms/fireworks.

Purina Calming Care. It's a daily task with the food, but it helps, surprisingly.

We’ve tried a few pills and even that thunder vest - they all work ok.
The bigger pup just hides, the smaller 65 lb pup gets more anxious and nervous when she was usually pretty mild mannered about everything

Our bigger dog does the exact same thing - if he’s hiding shite is about to hit the fan

My Lab developed this fear of thunder after being spayed. (Fireworks were always an issue). I use trazodone with some success. She can hear and sense the approaching storms way before we do.

How old is the dog? What’s the breed?
The best remedy is to train the dog around loud noises. But depending on age and breed will determine how challenging this will be.
I would begin what is called “box feeding”. So you’ll Put the dogs food in a box where they have to submerge their head into it and can’t see their surroundings. Then you’ll start introducing loud noises across the room (clapping, dropping a bowl, loud music, gunfire even). You start from a distance away and slowly get closer and apply more stress as well as increase sound decibel.
This is a slow process over months. Do not rush it and anytime the dog becomes over stressed then back off with noise and distance.

My point is, "dogs" don't really have this problem. It's more of a fur baby issue.

Our Doberman rode out Hurricane Michael so he has a reason to skiddish during a storm.
