Not in the least bit. As I said originally… I have six more years of work and I am retiring at 55.

I have welcomed the opportunity of employment in all of my jobs. I also worked hard and I feel I have been justly compensated for it. (Even when I was making minimum wage).

I’m not the one complaining about opportunities and pay.

That ended after trump left office.

That’s what it is all about. I wasn’t some crybaby 30 something complaining about the cost of living. I also advanced and have a great position in my company.

There was no reason to complain about cost of living when you could buy a decent home for 1.5 years worth of the median salary. Now it’s 10+ years worth in most places

You can be a good teammate at work and further the mission of your job and still have a life. Sometime that means work after 5 pm. Never missed anything with my family and I would never want some of you to work with or for me.

Businesses doing the bare minimum for their employees. Long-term health be damned, just make sure to get the next earnings report is higher than the last.

Bingo. Companies have shown infinitely times over that they only care about the bottom line. Me too.

Yeah baw the last turbine they installed at the bogalusa paper mill, Gee was there with that schedule. 1998-99. Normal behavior for plant projects. Truth is even the people running those projects know I fella ain’t working 7 months like that. They gonna take a day or two here and there.

Public money per student... That is a fascinating ratio. Maybe break it down into the different expenditures. Lots of over paid administors lot of teachers paying for their own shite. There are all kinds of factors that go into this. What I see is inefficiency and poor leadership. Too much pork. Does Korea have bus drivers. Do they drive 50 miles a day? What are their teacher's requirements? How educated are they? Because in America teacher is right up there with server Who creates these policies and budgets? Boomers. The ROI is clearly not good and that's cause of bloated boomers

you said we’ve stopped “investing” in education. I don’t take issue with anything you just said, but to act like we aren’t “investing” in education is ludicrous. all the reasons you just stated say we spend way too much money on public education, only to have around 50% of students who graduate high school that can read proficiently. and you know those stats are heavily influenced by teachers unions. so that’s the best case scenario. 50% of American kids are graduating functionally illiterate, and our only recourse is to set more money on fire to throw at them

I have not quiet quit my job, not even close, but I understand why it's happening. It has a lot to do with lack of wage growth and lack of advancement in their careers. My wife is in this situation, she's been at her job for seven years and is by far the most competent person in her office. Managers from other markets call her to get her expertise on several issues but she can't get into a management role because of reluctance by the bean counters to create a position for her or promote/reassign current managers. If you're in your 30s and you have nothing to show for years of busting your arse then what's the point of continuing like that? The company needs to value their employees too. These workers need to be identified and encouraged to move up to bigger and better roles and not languish in career purgatory.

Employers obviously have every right to make every dollar they can. Employees have the right to fight and claw for every dollar they can. For reasons I can't fathom, the former is considered being a good businessman while the latter is considered being entitled.

The only group that's more brainwashed by propaganda than the millennials they hate is the boomers themselves.

Employers want to extract as much labor as possible, while minimizing costs. It’s obvious employees will want to give as little effort as possible while maximizing reward. This is basic capitalism.

For some weirdo reason people seem to HATE capitalism when the leverage balance shifts even a little bit towards labor.

A lot of so called free market capitalists are just crabs in a bucket.

The laziest, most miserable people that I work with are all in the 50-60 year old crowd. They cry and complain CONSTANTLY all while showing up everyday and doing the absolute bare minimum because they think they are entitled by “seniority”.

Those aren’t the workers this thread is about. It’s about the workers that look at their job description and do nothing more and nothing less (I guess we could call it bare minimum if you’d like). And, there’s your morale problem. Because peers see them go home and spend time with family each night, or run a side gig to earn more money. While they give 100% and hope someone sees their effort to get a reward.
