We have question marks all over the depth chart, including QB and OL. 8-4 would be a solid year.

I dropped a shite ton of money on the over for 6.5. shite ton also for the odds a threw in a good sized bet over 10 wins. Vegas doesn’t know shite this year for LSU. All new culture, staffs, and 1/3 of our starters weren’t even here last year. Vegas doesn’t know shite and the odds show it. Yes you can bet 6.5 but the odds are terrible.

People haven’t seen the talent we have had transfer in and saw two .500 seasons back-to-back

Betting the over is easy money if you’re into that sort of thing

What about the talent that transferred out? This is a roster that was teetering on not having enough guys in the bowl game. Kelly will get the job done, but idiots have to stand out if the way.

1-22 the roster is as good as any in the country. It’s the next wave that is the issue and what separates good teams from great teams. There is a possibility of those guys being really good but as of now it is just a bunch of question marks.

No TEs either.
Defense at LB, DBs are unknown too.

I seen a segment the other day about all the rosters in college football and the percentage of 4 and 5 stars on it. LSU had the 7th best roster in the entire country. I know it’s hard to believe but we actually do have a roster that should finish no less than 8-4. Hard to get excited after last year but talent wise we aren’t as thin as people would have you think. We definitely will win more than 6 games

Where is the "major" concern?

Tight end? Yeah there's an issue.

Corner Back? we added 4 from the portal.

Yes you are. The most important positions on a football team: QB, OL, DL, DB

QBs: not stacked
OL: not stacked
DL: stacked
DB: not stacked

Have you looked at the schedule and tried to put wins and losses next to each game? If so, its very easy to see why the w/l total is 6.5 or 7. I personally think we’ll finish 8-4, but its not hard to see 7-5 or 6-6 if you go down the schedule.

I'm assuming you don't gamble. Vegas projections are God-tier.

If our over under was 9.5 I’d still take the over

No. There is talent but there are also some big holes and we don’t know how well they will be filled this year.

7 wins would be disappointing but not an absolute disaster.

That said, I think this team gets to 9-3

Vegas is all about the money so they go in the middle with unknown situation ,wait for money to come in then adjust accordingly . Simple economics

You are missing the following

1st - this is not Madden football game where you just plug and play

2nd - new head coach, culture, mentality, approach, process

3rd - new set of coordinators means new playbooks, 3rd in 3 years...communication, plays, expectations, coordination

4th - transfer portal brings whole new set of chemistry that needs to work itself into the roster, locker room, and relationship building

5th - that pesky position called QB, rather important, is turned over and undecided. 3 leaders = 0 leaders until named, and guaranteed it is a different one than last year

While that should be plenty enough to ponder "why 8 games":

Some SEC foes presently have an NIL advantage, while LSU was licking / fixing its Coach O wounds. The playing field out of SEC-W, in particular, did not get easier.

LSU lost some serious NFL talent off of the roster (not atypical at LSU) but is a factor to your question

Right question: "How can LSU earn min 8 wins?" makes more sense this year.

I agree 8-4 is something that will most likely happen we did have some close losses last year that really hurt our record; Aub, Ark, Bama

We're unproven at every position except for DL.

I would include WR, but I don't think we can say for sure that Boutte will return to pre-injury form.

I think you're missing a few things. We definitely have top talent in alot of skill positions but there isn't much depth on either line. Also, the complete turnover of coaching staff with a new offensive and defensive philosophy isn't something that is easily adjusted to. There are also alot of new players. Getting all of that to mesh and execute perfectly in the first season isn't a practical expectation. It's possible but it isn't likely. I think given everything and how depleted the roster was when BK took over, 8-4 would be a very good start. Anything higher than that while certainly possible would be awesome.
