I have had the following happen to me
Stabbed
Torn ACL
Abdominal surgery (cancer)
Chemo
Broken bone in hand
Broken ribs
Ball (nut) surgery
Kidney stones
Gall bladder removed
Bypass surgery
But the most painful thing I ever went through was when I broke my Coxic bone. 30 years later it can still hurt.
Edit. #2 was root canal, leading up to that the pain was so bad my knees buckled.

quote:I don't know if the nerve was actually exposed for me, but I know what you went through. I chipped a tooth as a kid, no pain at the time and hardly noticeable. Years later in high school the tooth started to "die". I thought it would stop hurting eventually so I didn't want to bother anyone about it, but after a few days of feeling like a needle was stabbing my gums I had a root canal.
Exposed nerve in a tooth. Toothache is an understatement.

Is there anything to do about the kidney stone or just have to fricking pass it?
Toradol is an anti-inflammatory drug that is great for kidney stones particularly if the pain is emanating from your flank. If your pain eases after a receiving this it is very likely you have a kidney stone. Don't turn down the pain meds though because you very well might need it.
1.kidney stone
2.myocardial infarction
3.exposed tooth nerve

A muscle cramp in my left calf. After hiking 8 hrs down Tanner Trail to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Tanner Trail is known for being a grueling downhill hike that's hard on the legs. I was sleeping in my tent and my foot went from the 12 o'clock position to 3 o'clock. I screamed out loud. It felt like my muscle was being ripped from my leg. Thank God my brother was there to help straighten my foot out.
A very distant #2 was a kidney stone. It made me puke.

Having the dentist hit the nerve with his drill. Having a fear of needles, I was without Novocain.
Have also had sciatica, appendicitis, end of finger cut off, and nothing hurt as bad as "hitting the red puppy" as the dentist called it. Oh, and I use Novocain since then; screw my fear.

I would describe kidney stone pain as a violent cramp deep in your abdomen or lower back that you can’t reach. With a calf cramp, you can stretch and bend toes to alleviate the pain.

Scraped the label sticker of a knee board off with my big toenail. It packed all the way to the bed with the sticky side up against the nail. I had to pull it out. The nail still show where the bed was injured.
Also dislocated the head of my fibula one time. After a week of being out before the doctors could figure out what was wrong it was pretty angry and sore.

I tore an abdomen muscle from vomiting so hard from food poisoning and there was a point I sincerely wished for death. Exploding from both holes for hours then that muscle tear mid-dry heave felt like I got stabbed with a dull knife in my stomach.

Kidney stone is definitely up there. I’ve passed three that I know of at this point at varying levels of pain.
My worst though still has to be my endometriosis pre-laparoscopy. Every cycle I had intense pain in my lower abdomen that eventually would have me on pain meds to flat knock me out to deal with it. Literally felt someone had punched through my abdomen and was twisting my entire lower abdomen. I was convinced I had cancer or something like that. When they went in, they found it had webbed between my bowel and abdominal wall, causing IBS like symptoms as well as nerve pain.

My ovary twisted on itself one day and started to die. Worst pain I ever felt. Worse than childbirth. Nothing would touch the pain. The ER prob thought I was drug seeking with how nothing would help me and they couldn’t see anything on the scan or X-ray. They finally admitted me and performed surgery on me and found my ovary dying. Took it out.

quote:When was this stuff invented? If more than 10 years ago I'm gonna be pissed because they didn't tell me anything about it when I had mine. They just gave me a bunch of morphine and I told them it didn't do shite, so then they gave me a bunch of dilaudid and when I told them that didn't do shite either they just fricking let me lay there for an hour before sending me on my way before I passed the stone. Went home and vomited a couple times before passing it that night.
The ONLY drug that gave me relief was Toradol.
If you EVER have a kidney stone. Ask for toradol. It was developed specifically for kidney stones. It decreases the pressure in your ureter and stops the spasming of your ureter and increases its diameter by stopping the inflammation allowing the stone to move along easier.

Fell about 20 feet onto some rocks, broke my wrist, cracked some other bones, got busted up. That didn't hurt too much, thanks to the whisky. A couple of weeks later the ortho specialist said the ER doctor didn't set my wrist right. What hurt was when he re-broke my wrist to re-set it.

The worst pain imaginable and its not even close. Fentanyl is the only thing that relieved some of the pain and even that didn't truly get rid of the pain. When Morphine and Toradol are useless you know the pain is real.

Hand-foot-mouth sickness. Had ulcers in the back of my throat and couldn't eat for 2 weeks. Had them on my tongue and all inside my mouth, and blisters on my fingers and soles of my feet. Couldn't do anything but let it run its course.
