Contractions with pitocin, but I don’t really remember the pain. Just that it sucked until the epidural kicked in.

My H had a kidney stone, and that seemed a lot worse.

Broken Femur. Car wreck.

The actual breaking of it wasn’t that bad. My whole leg just felt like Jello.

Recovery after setting it and putting that big arse rod in was hell for the first two weeks. I’d be in tears trying to sit to take a shite.

Oh wait, actually when they put my leg in traction for the night, they didn’t do a good job deadening it where they drilled a hole through my leg.

Yeah, a fricking Dewalt with a drill bit punching through about 4 inches above the knee was the worst moment of pain.

Post op recovery was worst pain over the course of a few days.

Kidney stone. That’s the only time I’ve vomited from pain

Kidney stone

Was 17

Started as a weird cramp in my back

It lingered, never went away

I stood up from my desk to stretch my back, didn't help. Got worse. Then it got a lot worse. Then it got A LOT worse.

I walked downstairs to call my parents. They didn't answer. By the time I tried to walk upstairs I was reduced to a crawl. I was sobbing. I had no idea what was happening. I thought I was dying. I was writhing around in pain that made me wish for death. I craved it.

I ended up vomiting on the stairs and passing out from the pain. My little sister called me back (I called her after my parents didn't answer), this is what awoke me from my stupor lying in a pool of my own gastric contents.

I ended up army crawling back to my bathroom upstairs hugging the toilet between episodes of howling and crying in pain and vomiting.

Eventually made it to the ER. My urine sample looked like root beer with pieces of tissue paper floating around in it.

I was completely broken. Adrenaline wasted from the pain.

Morphine and dilaudid did nothing for me.

The ONLY drug that gave me relief was Toradol.

If you EVER have a kidney stone. Ask for toradol. It was developed specifically for kidney stones. It decreases the pressure in your ureter and stops the spasming of your ureter and increases its diameter by stopping the inflammation allowing the stone to move along easier. It is nothing but a souped up NSAID (like mega strong advil).

It is SO good that if you give it to someone with weird abdominal/back pain, and it relieves their pain, chances are it's a kidney stone. Just remember that.

But anyway.

How I describe the pain of a kidney stone:
It feels as if someone has carved a hole in your flank with a rusty butter knife and is trying to shove a searing hot brick through this hole. It is indescribable.

I had swimmer's ear with a double ear infection and developed bronchitis at the same time. I coughed so much my abs hurt like I'd been doing crunches for hours and every single time I coughed it felt like someone was jabbing an ice pick into my ears. It was not pleasant.

I was in my teens. I don't remember it, but my Mom said I would just sort of moan/hum constantly to try to keep from coughing. ENT prescribed pain meds and cough syrup, neither of which did much.

My wife (OT 10, pics on retro Chive) was in the throes of labor and didn’t even know it. Doctors were baffled.

Meanwhile, I cry like a bitch and want to die every time I throw out my back.

I’m scared, so so scared, of my wife.

Lower back had me on my hands and knees a few times. Easily a 10/10 on the pain scale. Had a kidney stone but it paled in comparison. My son had a kidney stone that was much worse than mine - he threw up 37 times in 2-3 days.

Had cancer. Surgeon went in and removed it. Flipped every organ over making sure he didn't miss anything. When I woke up I felt like a truck hit me.

Acute diverticulitis

Felt like i was being stabbed and the knife was constantly being twisted for a week straight

4 rounds of morphine in the ER finally made me forget the pain

Dry socket after wisdom teeth removal.

I woke up in the middle of the night choking on blood. Jumped up to go to the bathroom and the pain was so bad, I fainted by the toilet.

Woke up and stumbled to the hallway, fainted again.

It was absolutely 10/10 worst shite I’ve ever experienced.

My threshold of pain was enhanced when I had to deal with severe Sciatica
And the thing about that is that it doesn't go away and there's no position you can get in (standing or sitting) that relieves it. I've been there too.

In 2012 I was thrown from a horse. I broke 4 vertebrae, three ribs and ruptured my adrenal gland.

I sprained my ankle REALLY bad last week and would you believe the ankle hurt worse. It hurt a lot worse. I will say that I’m older but I almost passed from the pain and that has never ever happened before.

I developed a “toothache” one weekend and the pain got so bad I passed out eventually before having to have emergency dental surgery. This was 10x worse than when I wrecked a motorcycle going 65+ wearing a T-shirt and swimming trunks.(You could see the bone in my elbows)

Drug eruption. Was given an injection and prescribed another medicine. They interacted in a very bad way. I swole up, skin peeled to the point of bleeding, couldn't bend my arms, and couldn't take a deep breath. Absolute agony.

Had some back problems a couple months back. Went to get out of bed and couldn't. I had started getting up, and got to where I couldn't go any further up. I also couldn't go back down and was stuck in this weird spot. No matter which way I moved, it was excruciating pain. Finally made it out of bed after an hour.
