I would have seriously considered calling 911.

We stopped flying American for domestic flights almost a decade ago and we live in DFW where they are headquartered. You cannot count on them & their flight attendants' arrogance & rudeness is off the charts horrible. If you fly internationally with them they are much more dependable.

As fearful as I would be of going on a no fly list, I think I would demand to be removed from the plane.

Can you imagine the poor people in middle seats sandwiched between two fat slobs, jockeying for arm rest space for 6 hours!

What happened to anger and vitriol? What about near mutiny? Not sobbing and panic attacks.

It’s why I always bring water bottles and Xanax with me onto a plane

One of my biggest fears is to be stuck like this

I guess I’m in the minority but I fly AA all the time from DFW and never have any problems. Maybe it’s just cause I’m a business traveler and always have my earbuds in and mind my own business

Knock on wood I’ve flown AA probably a dozen times over the pandemic and not once have had a delay more than 30 minutes or a cancellation

He doesn’t need to. I don’t think we’re getting the whole story, and if we are - AA is about to get fined out the arse and possible action taken against the crew.

Passengers are required to be either given the opportunity to get off and/or offered food and water. “Comfortable cabin temperatures” is also written as a part of the regulatory requirement.

Save fuel...... just add some more before you take off. Unless you can't refuel a plane while it's loaded with passengers?

pilots and flight attendants start getting paid once they leave the gate
yep. little known fact about the airline industry - they don't get paid during the boarding process.

(i believe delta started paying half rates recently)

I couldn’t imagine having kids on that flight. They struggle enough just waiting 30 min when there’s a line on the runways to get out.

At first glance in the article they appeared to comply with regs, arent the regs 3 hours max? They switched planes, deplaned and boarded a second plane. The passengers were on one plane for 3 hours and the other less than that. Horrible situation and AA is to blame but just wanted to clarify.

It's honestly pretty amazing that we still have situations where planes will sit on the tarmac for hours with people crammed in them like sardines. There has to be a solution to this

Another thing you can thank Bin Ladin for.

Good point. The swapping of planes would have definitely satisfied the requirement for the first part of the delay. 3 hours is the limit. Food and water have to be offered after 2 hours. The “comfortable cabin temperatures” part of the reg might be the biggest quip.

Lazy arse crew and airline.
Turn the APU on and run the cart down the aisle.
We had an Envoy flight few weeks ago and pilots didn’t turn APU on until we pushed back. Gate power was not working. We then sat for 20 minutes before getting IFR release and starting the engines.

When I take a trip in my truck, there are no delays before departure, and AC is always on. Also no fist fights with the poors in my truck.
