I don't think this is the same as us becoming pussies. I can understand how 6 hours without air and not being allowed to leave could cause some serious distress.

flew from Houston to New Orleans for the weekend to see her family and by the time it was all said and done, it was the same time as driving
Very True, but she didn't have to drive through the constant construction zone know as Winnie to Orange as well as sit on either Lake Chuck or New bridge traffic. I would take that trade any day of the week.

How is this allowed? If you left a child or pet in a car for 6 hours with no ac in Charlotte, you’d be charged with a felony.

They weren’t left on the plane for 6 hours,

When I take a trip in my truck, there are no delays before departure, and AC is always on. Also no fist fights with the poors in my truck.
Show me how your truck can get to Barbados in six hours or less and I’ll consider getting one of my own like it.

Orange Beach is not on my itinerary.

Tull told the local news outlet that the flight to JFK originally boarded at 1:40 p.m., but the airline later told passengers to leave the plane at 3:50 p.m. They then boarded another aircraft at 4:30 p.m., which eventually left for JFK at 7:30 p.m.

so they werent on one plane for 6 hours.

It's honestly pretty amazing that we still have situations where planes will sit on the tarmac for hours with people crammed in them like sardines.

There has to be a solution to this

Yeah, it's strange how the airlines have little to no contingency when their flights malfunction.jTheir solution is either sit on the plane until the problem is fixed, or deplane completely. If we all scanned our ticket to get off the plane, then surely we could rescan our ticket when we get off. Then, when the issue is fixed, and the flight time is updated, we rescan again.

I had a flight cancelled a few weeks ago due to hydraulic fluid leak. The guys working the door at the plane, were wearing the bright yellow jumpsuits. The airlines are so understaffed that the ground crews are working the gates.

And we aren't even at peak clusterfrick yet. Thanks Brandon!

It's one thing to say this about people being upset about their AC breaking at home, suck it up, part of life, etc.

But you're paying for the privilege of a massive company to treat you like shite for no good reason under the threat of likely arrest if you get too upset about it

There just comes a point where making security have to come have folks exit the plane is a must.

It’s not ok to hold people hostage like that

How hard is it to deplane and let the passengers chill in the terminal? I'm sure there was an open gate at the airport that the plane can be pulled into for 20 minutes, unload, pull the aircraft to a parking spot to fix, and then load up and go. Lazy planning.

Yep, this should be what happens after 30 minutes of waiting. Every time.

one size doesn't fit all when dealing with delays but the main reason for not immediately letting everyone off to "chill" in the terminal is that everyone typically scatters like ants, don't stay in the area, and don't listen to PAs, the delay would be compounded by the extra time it takes to round up the cattle and those that missed the flight because they left the area would end up starting threads on here about how shitty the airline du jour is
