I enjoy my ride down St. Charles Avenue every morning. Damn scenic; from beautiful homes to attractive joggers.

Try driving around Read Blvd, around where Lake Forest Mall used to be. Get a view of the bigger picture, instead of being an ostrich.

They need to have housing projects and not worry about the crime that happens there. I think now, some have 1 strike policies so that moves the drug game in areas that is inner twinned with the rest of the city.

The city was DEFINITELY better when they had the projects. Kept a lot of crime concentrated in those areas, leaving the rest of the city ***relatively*** safe.

Browsed the city via 'Google Maps' today. Mostly checking out main thoroughfares I remember (Canal, Claiborne, Elysian Fields, Franklin, St. Claude, etc.)
So you haven't been there. Got it.
We live 40 minutes from New Orleans.
I took my family to Van Gogh and Hamilton in the last month.
Both experiences were perfect. They reminded me of what I already knew about this great city and exposed my kids what New Orleans has to offer.
The city is wonderful. The media and the OTers like you are not.

Some people enjoy the scent of shite. I realize this.

Every New Orleans hater story starts with “so I followed my buddy down a back alley in the 9th ward and it’s a shame what the city has come to”

The lower ninth looked 100x's better 20 years ago. It looks war torn now. (I'm not saying it wasn't ghetto then, but there is no comparison.)
It's very obvious it's only going to continue to get worse. The city's best days are far in the rear view mirror.

Exactly. Now I'm no naive MFer. I was concerned taking kids down there amid the brazen carjackings lately.
They're all teenagers and I told them to keep eyes peeled.
But the results were simply amazing experiences.
On the way home, they all shared the sentiment that we're fortunate to live so close to one of the world's greatest cities.
New Orleans is still special.

Saw a homeless man on Saturday near Calliope and Tchoupitoulas cutting the grass at his spot with one of those manual lawnmowers. His “wife” was supervising from their tent. You can’t make this stuff up.
His spot was looking nice though

It literally never recovers from Katrina. Yeah it looks worse.

I honestly think the city looked better two weeks after Katrina.
Smelled better and less crime too!

Neither did the East. Neither did the most of the rest of the city. That's my point.

I think some of y’all are doing some revisionist history. Nola has always been ghetto for the most part. I remember dodging the lackadaisical jaywalkers between Claiborne and St Charles back in the 90’s. Y’all are just discovering shitholes that your parents knew about but kept you away from back in the day. The locations might change, but the people don’t
